Cools like a champ!

I bought this window unit when my central air went out and would be out for a week waiting on parts.  I have a split-level house that is well insulated.  In the upstairs I have a 5,500 BTU window unit, and I put this unit in the middle level with a fan blowing air down to the lower level.  This A/C...

Not great,its OK

Pros--This machine does cool great, the fan on high speed is a little noisy .I let the AC run for about 20-40 min on high, and then turn to medium or low. This machine takes care of a large area(dinning rm and living rm,kitchen). It was a lot lighter than the old AC unit we took out.You can direct the fan over a large area.

Cons:As with any newer unit they are using a lot of foam instead of metal. One problem is my unit is on the sunny side of house and the sun does shine through the foam, not much.It took me a while to figure out why the foam was a little bright. They should make the foam thincker...

Fantastic

I've had an 18,000 btu in my old house and it worked great although as an electrician I had to add a 220 circuit because of it's size. When I bought the house I live in now it had a 14,000 btu air conditioner so I kept it. I bought this new air conditioner from Sears and had it installed because of a serious back injury. I was so impressed that this 115 volt multi-functional A/C unit on the power saver setting is keeping my whole 1260 sq. foot house at the 74% setting. The fan puts out at least 2-3 times more air than the 14,000 btu unit I took out. All I can say is buy it!!!! I am going to save... read full review »

Quiet operation and MAJOR cooling power

Initially I bought the 12000 BTU 75121. That smaller unit was defective when pulled new out of box. When its fan turned it was obviously hitting upon something inside the air conditioner, producing horrible noise. (So much for CR giving that unit one of its highest overall product ratings. Does anyone even care what CR rates anything anymore?) OK, so I figured long as I was inconvenienced to return the defective 75121, I figured I might as well upgrade to the 75151. Lets hope that in the long-run the quality of the 75151 proves to be good. My initial perception is very positive. I installed the... read full review »

Love It!!!

I purchased this a/c unit 2 years ago for my business. I have 640 sq ft in my 2 offices and we use this model in one of them and a box fan to pull the air into the other office. We have been very pleased with the comfort. Although "they" do not recommend it for a slider window we install it and have had no complaints. Looking to buy another one for the garage/apt. Only complaint is the noise while running and talking on the phone. Not that it is loud, but the telephone mic seems to pick up the sound. Works great set at 76 energy saver mode in 104 degree Texas climate.

I bought this Kenmore 15000 BTU multi-room air conditioner to cool off my small two bedroom apartment and it does that wonderfully.  For such a large unit it is rather quiet and keeps the place very comfortable.  However my issues are with the quality of the installation hardware that came with the unit.  The first step in installing this unit to your window is to mounth these "L" Shaped brackets to your exterior window sill.  These brackets are two peices and are adjustable and have a slot were the carriage bolt slides through.  However the slots on my brakes were about 2mm too narrow for...

GOOD UNIT , EXCEPT..

I like the unit except it cuts on all the time.Very noisy, every 2 minutes or less it's running. I replaced another Sears unit that was ka-put after 14 years. Imagine that! Wonderful unit for the time. This is just as good for the office I have except that it cuts on all the time. This was supposed to be a supplemental unit for the main a/c unit for outr building, my office was originally a storage room converted to an office. The main a/c just wasn't quite enough during the heat of the day, so we installed a unit in the outside wall. This unit cuts on more that every 3 minutes as described in... read full review »

Bought model 75151 in Aug 2008.  Used it for 3 weeks to cool one room in my summer home in 2008.  Removed the unit from the window and stored it in the bedroom for the winter.  This year, 2009, I installed it in the wall where another Sears AC had died after 6 years use and two repair calls to Sears.  All electrical related problems too.  So far this year, 2009, the unit has been used for 6 weeks.  The Warranty is for 1 year and now it has big problems.  The electronic temperature control setting is broken.  The unit runs without stopping no matter how warm I set the tempeture making...

Great air conditioner!

Purchased in June 08. The installation on slanted window sill was a slight challenge but worth it! The slip-in case made installation and placement of the heavier "guts" much simpler and safer. The unit is quiet and works wonderfully! I installed it the day before 100 degree temperature in Oregon and it had no problem cooling a 21 by 14 living room with attached 10 by 10 dining room (394 sq ft). The house was built in the 1950's so no insulation in walls, 9 ft ceiling and old double hung windows. Within minutes I could feel cool air at the back of the house 45 feet away from the unit!! The other... read full review »

more air please

this unit was a big drag i thought 3 fan speeds, and multi-room it has to be good, not to mention they were asking a pretty penny for it. well for starters hi is like standing on my porch with a breezy blowing through, multi, heck try half of room unit, i guess they only way this unit works well is in multiples. They biggest bummer is when i have to go to bed in the heat because this unit is so darn loud. for all those looking to buy keep looking.

The REAL Scoop

Model 75151 is bulky and weighs over 100 lbs. I didn't have to worry about that though because the Sears Installation team handled the job flawlessly and even let me hover about without getting angry. Team was careful about my property and were clean. They took away my old unit. That was important to me. Installation is 5 star. Function - Performance. The unit is thus far as advertised. I discounted claims by other reviewers about the loud fan thinking they were exaggerating or had the fan on 'high speed'. The REAL scoop is that the fan is rather load at any speed. It will probably require you... read full review »

Very Good So Far

I have had this now for about a month and so far I am very pleased. It cools my 3-bedroom apartment with no problem, including an additional sun room. It is more of a semi-slow, but very steady cooling process, rather than the immediate icing you get from a non-Energy-Star model. Based on the reviews, I do worry that maybe I will be unlucky and it will die, but I am not going to lose sleep over that. First, forget their INCREDIBLY CONFUSING mounting instructions and just look at it with common sense. I DO NOT recommend taking it out of the housing as they instruct, but rather just stick it in... read full review »

installation & instructions are HORRIBLE!

No surprise, Kenmore produces such wonderful products like this one, and then totally flunks on hardware and the instructions. The single most important part of the installation is the bracket assembly that holds the entire unit in place, In a 16 page booklet, they dedicate a couple of brief lines and worthless diagrams on how the bracket pieces attach to each other, and then to the window. Get that wrong, and of course the unit falls out with a 105 pound load. Oddly enough, this is my third Kenmore AC unit because we love them, but the instructions are still confusing. And the little hardware... read full review »

Great big A/C

This is a great ac unit if you have to cool a big area, I wouldn't put it in the bedroom, its pretty loud. The remote is very convenient. I have only had it for a month so I don't know about its longevity yet, but it is a very solid well made unit so far as I can see. It does not vibrate at all. I had to make my own support for the outside, because I don't have the kind of windows that the brackets that came with it would work on, namely a downward slanting outside window sill. The unit itself slides in and out of the outside cabinet. You mount the cabinet in the window and once you are sure everything... read full review »
