It took me a long time to jump on the netbook bandwagon because I had a perfectly working laptop but eventually I gave in so I could have something small to take to classes.  Buying the Acer Aspire One was a wonderful decision.  It's small enough for me to carry along everywhere but powerful enough to perform all the functions I need to do on a day-to-day basic.  It's not going to win any awards for gaming but I wouldn't have expected it to.

I have the 6-cell battery version and it lasts me an entire day of classes before I need to recharge it.  Even with the larger battery, its weight is...

I was so excited when I first opened up the shiny new red netbook, but the excitement faded quickly.  The packaging is much better than the content.  First, the glossy screen is strictly used for only an indoor mid to low lighting.  The small keyboard keeps the big "ham fisted" guys like me away.  The touch pad.........well enough said!  The real bummer with the Acer Aspire One is the battery pack, the excessive heat, and the frying noise that it made before the netbook crashed (all within the first thirty days)!  Sadly, the shiny bright "eye-candy" case provides little or no protection...

Great Little Netbook

This review is for the 6-cell Ruby Red version. As is the case with most who purchase this system, I'm not interested in doing anything requiring a lot of raw power: I bought it because its portability means I can easily carry it for travel or use by the bed. I simply throw it in my bag and bring it along. The battery life on the 6-cell is exceptional, making it ideal for students or travelers who don't have ready-made access to outlets.
