In the market for new running shoes. What brand(s) do you recommend? I'm not a New Balance fan but would be open to suggestions.

Anything but Skechers. Bought a new pair and two months later (after wearing them about a dozen times) the sole is starting to seperate. I called up Skechers customer service and was basically blown off. I'll never buy another pair of Skechers again -- customer lost for life.
Nike and Adidas are my two favorites.

I'm a big fan of New Balance. There's a fit for everyone, and it doesn't hurt that they are a local (Massachusetts) company that has most of its manufacturing done here in the States.

For whaever reason, Adidas shoes have always fit me really well. I've never had a comfortable Nike shoe. My girlfriend is a big runner and she goes to Fleet Feet for a professional fit session.
Because they are pretty expensive, she will usually go online and get the same pair of shoes much cheaper. Now that Sears.com has an extensive shoe assortment, I've encouraged her to look there.

I wish that Sears could get Nike back.... hated they lost them when they merged with Kmart.

Actually about 1/4 of their shoes are produced in the United States. If you check it out in stores, their less expensive shoes are made in China, and their more expensive ones are made here, which makes sense. Still, you have to give them a lot of credit for being the only major shoe company to maintain a manufacturing presence in the United States.

I like the Catepillar steel-tipped Sneakers, that Sears carries.
But, since the accident, I don't do any "running" anymore.
They're excellent light/fast shoes to wear when you're on the go and safety (ANSI 75 rated) is also a key consideration.
