This product is a spike aerator and puts holes into the ground (it does not pull dirt plugs from the ground), it worked fine for me but in my opinion it has some major design defects and are as follows:
1. The aerator gets much deeper if you push it rather than pull it, however handle is weak and you have to push from the sides of the handle not to bend the handle. Pushing the aerator is much harder than pulling.
2. The handle has curved bar at the bottom, I assembled the aerator per the instructions and the curved bar (not sure why is it there) restricts the aerator from going deep into...

The Agri-Fab does what it says it will do, make slits in the lawn for air, seed and fertilizer to reach the roots. Pushing is difficult but possible, dragging it is easier especially if weighted. Best used after a rain or light watering. Mine is 3 or 4 years old now.
Very dissappointed with it. The cinder block that we needed to purchase, did not fit, so, i had to buy a half size one, that still does not fir in snugky like the picture shows. I have since returned it.
complete junk, i bought this because it was cheap thinking that it would probable take time to aerate yard with this but i am laid off and have the time. After i assembled the product and tested it out in the yard i realized that the product isnt designed properly, you cant push the aerator with a cement brick on top because it just gets stuck in the ground and doesnt want to move. If you had a flat ,,, very soft lawn it might work . I WOULD NOT BUY RECOMEND THIS PRODUCT
The 16" spike aerator is not worth the $60 (which included shipping). The directions on how to put it together has the screws facing the wrong way so the cinderblock would not fit into the holder. Even after the screws were turned around, it was difficult to make it fit, so we had to retrofit it with different screws. So basically the area the block is supposed to fit in is not big enough. The block was not heavy enough to adequately cut into our grass. Ended up putting a sand bag on it held on by bungie cords. It cuts grooves, but is hard to push. I should have looked at the description...
