Lockedrun AC at 55F

Kenmore 10K BTU unit internal thermostat runs to 60F. I need 55F. How can I lower the internal thermostat minimum set point?  Or, how can I bypass internal thermostat so I can use an external thermostat (with timer) in the power line?   JP

Why do you need the temperature to be 55 degrees?

maybe its like mine the display says 60 but when the temp inside and outside are in the 70s it kicks on and off every few min

Or maybe they're trying to cool too large a room, or one with too many south-facing windows, or a kitchen, etc. Who knows? Only the Shadow. :)

I do not think this unit was made to turn a room into a cooler

Steven Wright once claimed he turned his window A/C backwards, and all the people on the street said "hey,it sure got cold all of a sudden".

My guess is the evaporator on that window-shaker will ice up way before you can get room temp down to 55.If you're intent on trying, jump the cold control out and let it free-wheel,or hook up whatever control contraption you have your heart set on.Good Luck.

Might as well check what A/C units are on sale. That compressor won't last very long with iced up coils. A/C's are not made to run lower than around 65 degrees max.
