Heard air purifiers may help those with severe allergies.  Do they work for anyone?

Air cleaners can work WONDERS for allergy sufferers.

When I was attending college, I inadvertently attended a University that had TWO THOUSAND species of plants, for the Agriculture Ornamental Horticulture folks to identify, on campus.

Every allergy season 1/3 of the campus would line up at the health center for a "little paper bag" of allergy pill goodies.

Start with the little red ones (Sudafed) and work your way down this list of pills, until you can balance relief with your ability to study.

My ability to study was affected, less than 1/3 of the way through the list, by me waking up around 2 o-clock in the morning, having slumped over my home work and drewling all over the Engineering math equations.

Luckily, everything was written in PENCIL.

A Heathkit (long time ago) air cleaner really saved my bacon (and grade point average) the rest of the time I was attending that University.

The equivalent today would be the HEPA air filter technology. I have several Kenmore filters at home, saving me from the outside plants and our TWO dogs.

The good news about the University is that is where I met my wife, an Ornamental Horticulture major.

Dehumidifiers are sort of ironic.

The air cleaners reduce air born allergens - like pollen and dust.

The dehumidifiers make your environment less appealing to another common allergy pest - the dust mite.

Dust mites trigger our allergies with their saliva.

Yuk!

And, moist environments make it very cozy for dust mites to live and multiply.

Hence, the effectiveness of a dehumidifier...
