LockedIce/Water on top of unit.

For the past two weeks, I noticed the unit has a patch of water/ice on the top of the unit.  It still collects water but it appears to run a lot more.  The unit is not even a year old and has worked great since installing it.  The unit is set on Low at 50%.  It's in a basement environment in Wisconsin.  Does the condenser need to be cleaned?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

The most common error we used to find in the operation of dehumidifiers was trying to operate them in too cold of an ambient temperature. Some of them don't work right below 70 degrees, some dont work right below 65.Have to check your owners manual.I suppose its possible for the coils to be clogged but after less than a year doesnt seem likely.

I found the same ice / water on the top left corner of my Kenmore ( low-temp model)  dehumidifier last year.  This year the  unit runs rust but the touch control buttons ( the  circuit board)  don't work.  I took the  front panel apart and found rust from wiring dripping  down the inside on the  left.  It is in a  55-60 dgree slightly damp basement in central NY running 3 hrs on/off.   So get rid of the condensation / ice buildup so it  doesn't rust / ruin the electronics.

How old is this dehumidifier? If it's under 5 years old, I'd recommend taking it to your nearest Sears repair drop-off, so they can check the refrigeration system.
