Can you recommend an air purifier for our office? I'm in the front area - about 450 sq ft.  Have a co-worker who smokes outside on break, but the smoke odor follows her back in.  Please help.

If anyone knows, I'd also like to know! I've been planning to buy one for my house.

One of my friends has one in her house not sure of the brand but it was expensive I think she got it from The Sharper Image.

The best air purifier is putting the Butt-Station farther away from the door. :)

you have lots of choices. If you want to get the scent out of the air immediately with no more issues look into buying an ozonator (sp?) that will immediately destroy and air bound scents. Now there are actualy air purifiers you can purchase, theyre all different just make sure you get one thats easily clean able and quiet

I bought the Kenmore air purifier 85250 and it covers about 200 sq ft.  Great for an individual room. We have allergies so need something to clean the air. It works well, as I noticed that I dust less, and breathe better, especially at night. It has a Hepa and a pre-filter that will need to be changed every so often, but I don't think they are that expensive compared to other filters for other purifiers. The pre-filter needs changing more often.  I have used this also on high speed to get rid of odors which it does. It is quiet running on low speed, but not as quiet as you graduate up to the other 4 speeds. It is light weight and can be moved easily from room to room. After one month I checked the pre-filter and it was almost full of dust particles etc.,  and to think that junk was circulating in the air in our bedroom. As I said it works well. We don't notice the dust or pollen problems, as we did before.  Keep the filters changed for optimal performance.

And, if you are using a Honeywell or Kenmore air filter, with a round HEPA filter, you can lengthen the HEPA filter life by putting a piece of duct tape across the seam of the pre-filter that wraps around the HEPA filter.

Those velcro strips don't hold the prefilter over-lap as well as a strip of duct tape will.

I also am searching for one and my friend has an Oreck and says that's the only way to go.  He smokes in his office with the door shut and his wife can't smell it outside the door nor inside when she goes in.

Just don't waste your money ($400.00) on Kenmore electrostatic air cleaner. Works great for about a year then good luck trying to get it fixed
