Not true unless stated.  For instance a refer may have a 5 year compressor warranty but labor is only included for 1st year.  This varies by manufacturer but the 1 year labor is pretty standard and only cover defects while some parts may have longer warranty periods.

the mfgs. all got together and went to one year warranty on parts and labor, some top of the line models may have  a two year parts and labor. some top of the line Kitchenaid dishwashers have come with 3 year motor and pump warranty, but for the most part you will only get one year part and service. they also changed replacement parts warranty to 90 days. if you purchase a oem part to repair your appliance it will only come with a 90 day replacement warranty, most servicers will warranty their labor for 30 days. independent servicers are required by the manufacturer to warranty their labor for 30 days to the factory.

ok I got the copies, so it is then plainly understood and it is stated on the aforementioned companies  that labor and parts are covered for the first year, if there are any special inclusions such as the compressor it would be stated in that specfic warranty information on that product as you have mentioned. There have been some statements (other site links) on this about the mfg not covering any labor, this is my point, they do in the first year.  If not quoted accurately, on what labor is covered,  this is a deadly statement for anyone misquoting and trying to inform a customer and attempting to sell a purchase protection agreement from Sears.

So does GE, Kenmore, Whirlpool, Maytag, Amana, LG, Samsung, ElectroLux, Frigidaire, KitchenAid, & Bosch all cover the compressors on a frig for 5 years or do you have to go on a snipe hunt to find out this info, site by site  any suggestions where to get this info from someone within Sears?
thx

So as a selling point then, mfg has 30 day labor warranty on parts replaced, so if a person has an Sears MPA, they dont need to be concerned with this 30 day warranty  but be informed what is covered or not if they choose not to go with an MPA. With an MPA , they can recall the technician as many times they want until its fixed correctly all for free no labor part or travel call out charges?

In response to terryf's post from May 24 2009 08:59PM

so no difference if the mfg puts in a reconditioned or new part as they deem necessary but both are only warranted for 90 days, use to be OEM part purchased had a longer warranty but alas that has changed now also, fof course warranty parts must be installed by a authorized agent/ party, w/ no self installation...

thx

you would have to check the warranty for each model the manfacturer carries. an example GE appliances may carry a better warranty than Hotpoint even though they are both GE products. GE Profile will generally have a better warranty than a plain GE. the warranty varies across the product line bottom line are less expensive and usually carry a 1 year warranty parts and labor as you move up to the top of line they are more expensive and will probably have a longer warranty.  rebuilt parts such as electronic boards have become cheaper to build new than to repair and resale. I have not seen rebuilt parts in many years now. if you were to repair a washer for example and replace a defective drive motor 3 weeks before the unit was 1 year old you would not receive a 90 day warranty. the warranty on any parts would expire on the date that

the manufacture doesn't warranty any cost incured in replacing a part that might fail in the 90 day warranty, they wont cover any cost of freight. the service company pays the cost of any warranty problem during that 30 labor warranty period.any cost of replacing a defective part freight and labor involved should not be the customers responsibility. providing the part was defective and was also the cause of second failure in that 30 day time period

i just purchased a keenmore freezer, and a small fridge, today. the sign on the freezer stated that it had a 1 year warranty, but when it got down to the paperwork, the sales associate stated that it had only a 90 day parts, and labor warranty, i felt really misled by this, and also felt defrauded in a way.

it seems thst today, warranty is in effect until you get it out the door, and that's all. i made the deal, anyway, because it was the best deal i could find in the area, considering what i had to chose from. i've learned not to spend extra money on extended "warranties", because the money spent never seems to protect my equipment, anyway.

just my 2 cents worth
