LockedNo Haul-Away Delivery Charge

posted on November 19, 2009 at 03:49PM Inappropriate?

Sears charged me $65 for the delivery + haul away of a fridge next week but I feel I overpaid since I don't have any old fridge to be hauled away. Should Sears have given me a lower delivery charge? If not, can I ask the delivery person to haul away a car door that's in my garage?

Hi rswl-GIve the 1-800-4-MY-HOME customer service folks a call.  You should not be charged for haul away if there is nothing to haul away! I think the haul away charge is usually $10, but another member can probably confirm that, better than I can.

Let us know how you like your new fridge, once it is installed!

You only paid for delivery, not haul away. Delivery is $65 on weekdays, $75 on weekends. Haul away is an additional separate $10 charge. You paid exactly what you were supposed to.

I feel better now. Thank you both for the information.

Prolly a free haul-away. Just go complain to store about how bad your expierence was and get the manager to remove delivery fee.

I cant believe Sears still charges for del and haul away anymore.  HD and Lowes both went to really free delivery and haul away.  And you can get that WITH 0% offers...EVEN ON BLACK FRIDAY ITEMS...unlike Sears.

HD and Lowe's are doing that to try to dig into Sears' dominant market share. When they hit a threshold that they're happy with for monthly business, they'll resume rebates, because eliminating the rebate process reduces profits. It's a calculated short-term loss designed to lead to long-term gains.

If your appliance was more than $399.00, you should be filing for a rebate on the delivery fee.

If it was, you can use your purchase date to download the proper form at sears.com/rebate.

Yeah, they copying sears trying to beat them, theyre just raising their prices elsewhere to make up the difference. Some one is paying for it, and it could be you. I would shop at sears where you know where the rebate is coming from.

FYI: Best Buy charges $70 for delivery, at least in the Phoenix area.
