I have a nine year old, side by side, whirlpool gold refrigerator.  We get water on the floor and cannot figure out where it comes from.  I have noticed this time that the drip tray is full.  I can see no way to remove it for emptying without taking part of the refrig. apart....any hints?  Previous refrig. drip trays simply slid out...

Hi amethyst529-

Welcome to MySears!  There are lots of service techs on the site who can probably help you out, but Sears.com has a companion site that may have some answers, too.  It is www.managemyhome.com-just type in the issue you are having and see if anything comes up.

It should come out the front after removing the clip-on grille from the front. Simply squeeze the grille from above and below on both sides about 1/4 of the way in on each side.

A lot of the trays don't come out easily. They should not need to, the heat from the compressor/condenser should be evaporating the water quick enough. If yours is actually overflowing, you would want to figure out why the increase in water or why it's not evaporating.

The heavy and persistent rains we've had in New England for the past month (MONTH!) may be increasing humidity in the fridge and freezer, causing your refrigerator's evaporation pan to be overwhelmed.
