Tire chains

This product is a huge help to traction with the snow plow. The instructions were well written and easy to follow. When installing, make sure to get the chains as tight as possible, so they don't slip on the tire. I was able to do this by letting the air out of the tires while putting them on and then... read full review »

Most Helpful Critical Review

The chains came with no instructions so I had to work it out by myself.   One of the chains had the end link not crimped properly so it came apart.   I had to reassemble it properly, not something one should have to do with a new product.   Still, the price was reasonable and the chains fit OK....

Not bad

These are fairly good chains, ONCE you get them properly installed. the first installation, done in haste, was a failure. I have put many chains on before and what you need to do with these is add additional bungee cords or rope to secure the outer bead chain. I made a spiderweb pattern over the face of the rim, threading it through the outer bead chain links, with twine which holds up fine. Otherwise you will not like these chains.

had to take the wheels off

After a few weeks of the chains falling off, I decided to take the wheels off and try to do it that way. I had to cut 5 inches of chain off. They work great now but I have no idea how others do it with the tires on. It was a lot of work and frustration but I'm glad they are on and fit properly.

Necessary, But Imperfect

I use these tire chains on a Craftsman 26 HP YS4500 lawn tractor with a 42" snow thrower attachment. Traction would be extremely difficult without them, so I do recommend them as a necessary purchase. I've taken a few stars off for a couple of reasons. The installation instructions state that Peerless is "an ISO 9001 Certified Company." Now maybe I'm mistaken, but I always believed that ISO 9001 had to do with quality. The instructions state to "Lay chain straight with the open sides of the cross chain hooks facing up." On one of my chains, the fold back hook was installed at the factory 180 degrees... read full review »

Tire chains

chains are not cut to size and are not an aggressive chain for winter use in Maine.

Not Very Good

I bought these chains for my lawn tractor. I bought the snow plow blade option. I am not mechanically challenged. I have been in the auto business for years and have put chains on tow trucks and pick up trucks with plows on them in the past. These chains are pretty flimsy. They fall off easy. This is the first winter I had to use my tractor for plowing snow. I have a corner lot with lots of public sidewalk and a long driveway. The chain on the right wheel broke the links several times. I had to weld the links back together three time now. This is so agravating when you are in the middle of plowing... read full review »

chains vs weights

I am using a Johndeere plow on my Craftsman lawn tractor. I had little to no traction even with light snow. I thought I would have to invest in chains and wheel weights. After reading many reveiws I decided to try the chains first and buy the weights if still had tire spinning. The chains work so well I am not going to purchase the weights. Plowing the snow will make piles, so do plenty of space managment so you have room to push the snow later in the season.

Tire chains

I have installed these chains on my John Deere LT180 tractor for snowblowing. The chains were a little too long so I had to take out one link to get them to fit. They seem to be working fine and give me good traction.

These tire chains work great!  Didn't need instructions to install, my ten year old son put his side on before me.  Lay flat, drive on and then pull them up and fasten.  Doesn't get any better than that!

Must use chains for traction.

Chains are a must for traction when using a snow blade attahment on a yard tractor. I live in the Catskills and have a 535 foot driveway. My Craftsman YS4500 with a briggs 21 hp OHV does a good job plowing.
