jaredcolten says "Great inexpensive storage solution but directions not great" about Arrow Mid Gable SR1010 Lawn Building (10 ft. x 10 ft.)

Great storage solution but directions need updating. Some sections in the directions direct you to "do as follows in the picture". However, the pictures are not very detailed. If you follow the directions, and I mean really follow them you will be fine.

I put it together myself but needed a second pair of hands when installing the first four sections of walls in all four corners. Simply no way to hold it yourself and screw it in. Definitely use a variable speed screw gun. And, when installing the main roof support just hold one end with a ladder while screwing in one end. Like I said, the whole thing can be done by yourself except for the first four corner walls.

ONCE AGAIN. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS TO THE LETTER. IF YOU DON'T YOU MAY FACE UNSCREWING CERTAIN SECTIONS BECAUSE YOU DID NOT LEAVE THE CORRECT HOLES OPEN FOR LATER PARTS THAT CONNECT.

One negative is the low door height. The clearance from floor to opening is only about 5 feet. You will have to duck each time...
...

Just finished assembling this shed. I DID NOT have any trouble at all with holes lining up or the instructions whatsoever. The instructions are in fact very good, but you do have to pay CLOSE attention...just like anything else. For all the folks who claimed it was a nightmare e.t.c to assemble let me just say "Start with a solid and level foundation". I'm betting that's where most of these people messed up. If your floor isn't level the building has to twist to set down on it's sill plate and then I can imagine hole alignment would be a nightmare. I built mine on a poured concrete slab...assembly was a breeze. ALSO, just start all screws in each panel, then after they are all started, go back and tighten...then proceed to the next panel.

The panels are thin and flimsy, but after it's all together the resultant building is quite strong and sturdy. I assembled all the preliminary steps myself, then a buddy came over and we put the rest together in about 4 hrs. with the exception of roof...
...

My husband and I are do-it-yourselfers. We had no problem with the assembly time required for this particular shed and liked everything else about it--color, size, etc. Our old metal shed needed replacing due to hail damage in a recent storm, so we decided to replace it with this one. We already had the foundation beams cemented in the ground (it is raised) and replaced the wood floor before beginning assembly. It was a three day project all-in-all, but most of the assembly of the shed itself took place in a 12-hour period. None of this is a problem for us. The shed looked great when it was completed. We knew it wouldn't be as sturdy as say, a wood shed, but we obviously knew that going in. What has really angered us about this product is that after a light rain, a heavy rain, any kind of rain, it LEAKS. And the leaking is not due to us forgetting to use a rubber washer or anything like that. The leaking is due to design. We tested it with a hose to determine where the problem is, with...
...

I purchased this shed on sale for $299 with free floor kit. It took 2 days to put up. (the 1st day it rained) You will defiantly need helpers. We followed the directions and pretty much everything went according to the instructions. I laid a tarp over the grass where I wanted the shed to go, put down the floor kit, leveled & I bought the cheaper particle wood for the floor. Overall a nice looking shed, sturdy, no leaks, lots of room & I can stand inside with out ducking (I'm 5'10"). Just have to be sure to watch your head when entering because of the low door clearance.
...

If you are not mechanically inclined, Do not purchase! Unless you have 3 arms that are 4' long, you'll need another person to help start the four corner panels and again to put the ridge trim on the finished roof. The panels are very thin and flimsy and crease easily. At first, the whole project is very weak and I wondered if I made the right choice, but as I came to the end of the build, the shed became very solid. I was lucky enough to have used my exsisting concrete foundation, I'm not sure how the project would have gone on dirt. I ordered the concrete anchor kit from Arrow on-line for about $44. It worked great. The carbide tipped drill supplied with the kit cut through the concrete like butter! Most important, you have to Relax, and take your time. It took about 3 weekends to finish. Make sure you rope down the project until it's anchored properly! I'm happy with the results. If you don't have a square flat surface to build on, you will have problems!
...

I found this shed not to bad to put up. The instructions could have been more detailed but overall not bad. For the price the free floor kit was nice, I also added a 23/32 plywood floor it cost another 54 bucks but I believe was well woth it. It took me and my wife about 16 man hours to complete and did it over 2 days do to the heat. All the holes lined up with a little persuation, but we were close to level and square most the time so that helped quite a bit....

Now that it's done, it seems like a good solid shed that'll last years.

The directions omitted lots of details, and had shoddy illustrations. I had to disassemble more than one section and redo it before proceeding.

The free flooring kit they threw in was basically useless though. I would have been better off, if it weren't thrown in for free, buying some pressure treated 2x4s and placing them where I wanted them. Due to the frame structure, you are forced to cut your flooring to specific sized pieces, wasting a lot of board.
...

1st time builder of an Arrow shed.

I initally started off ordering a 10x6 from Sears.com. I received it a few days after, it was packaged O.K. Upon sorting out the parts and starting the frame assembly, I realized they gave me a 10x10 not a 10x6. I wasn't happy at first because I bought the floor frame and pre-planned for a 10x6, but in the end, I'm glad they screwed-up. Needless to say, once I started setting it up and realized it wasn't right, what could I do anyways?...

I can say I pretty much did this shed 90% by myself with help mostly on the roof and the side bolts/nuts that need 2 people. I prefer to work alone, I concentrate better and if I cuss I don't feel bad (and there was alot of that :).

The instructions are very vague and at times hard to follow. ACTUAL diagrams and photos would be alot more helpful then the 3rd grade drawings printed. The verbage can be confusing at times as well, so take your time reading and studying the manual.

I suggest you sort and simplify...
...

This was the 3 shed I've built but the most difficult to assemble. Screws did NOT fit predrilled holes. Almost every hole had to be expanded by hand to fit poor quality screws. It took a lot of pushing on every single screw to get them to grab the metal. The entire assembly had to be done by hand. Very time consuming and wearing on hands. A total nightmare to assemble! Never again! Instructions were good but thin material does bend easily making assembly more difficult. New shed is already sporting several dents! Free floor kit was helpful though.
...

The shed itself is actually quite nice now that it's in place. A family member assembled it, with much difficulty. Fortunately he is good at deciphering unclear and contradictory instructions. Assembling it took two to three days; it was labor-intensive and requires someone with good engineering ability to get it right. In my case the price was right and everything worked out, but I would get it only if you will have the help of someone who is rather handy. It is a nice addition to the garden and we've had it in place for several years now and it is holding up nicely even through snowstorms. The shed is well vented.
...

The instruction manual is poorly written and diagrams are not clear until you assemble parts and find out it should be assembled the other way. Engineers that designed this manual should review and rewrite it. It definitely takes 2 people to assemble this shed because someone has to hold the nut/bolt while the other person tightens it. I received the free floor kit but opted to build a pressure treated frame with 2 x 4's and 3/4" plywood to secure the shed. The shed walls assembled okay, but the roof panels did not all line-up which involved drilling new pilot holes and longer screws. After the 1st rain fall I noticed leaks coming from the roof which I needed to caulk. Pro's - Price is good, free floor kit and customer service is great if you need extra parts. Cons - Instructions, razor sharp metal edges (wear gloves) and very flimsy sheet metal material (if you lean on it, dents and kinks) Good luck!
...

I soon found out that I lost that good deal with all the man hours I spent putting this beast together. Honestly, Imagine putting together a cheap propane BBQ times one hundred. The instructions worked but were confusing, I think because they were vague so they work for more than one model.

If you'are up to the challenge it's pretty nice.

The shed description said it was supposed to be 6'8" tall at the center, but when I went to the store to pick it up I looked at a full size display and it was less than 6' at the center. Definately too small!
...

I got the 10x10, plus the floor kit (free) for $309, shipped to Sears. With 3 people helping - we had it pretty much finished in one day. Expect to "tweak" it a bit for some of the holes to line up. Seems flimsy until it starts to all come together & then it firms up rather nicely. I bought 100 of the 12"x12" concrete landscaping stones as the foundation. ($155 total, from **********) I ended up not needing the floor kit, although I may still install it later. All in all - I'm pretty happy with this shed. I don't expect it to last forever, but it feels fairly solid & keeps the rain off my yard tools. I ended up using all of the plastic washers & could have used another dozen or so, but mainly because I doubled up in a few critical places, to ensure water could not get through. For the price - I think this shed is hard to beat... Instructions were adequate, but I do recommend reading a page ahead, as I did have to unassemble/reassemble a couple times because it isn't...
...

We actually have 2 of these sheds and are looking at purchasing a 3rd one in the future. They are a good buy if you need extra storage. I would definately recommend having more than one person for set up as it can be a little difficult to manage with only 1 person. The floor kits come in handy and help keep the unit square during assembly so I would recommend one of them as well. The only complaint that I have is that the metal is very thin and bends easily. We use ours for atv storage, tool and other random storage. We fit 3 3 wheelers a grill and compressor in one.
...
