This is the second lawn building, from Arrow, that I have purchased (from Sears) and assembled. The first one has been very durable. It is has been almost twenty years and it still looks great. That aside, the assembly is about a two day project for 2 people. Three people makes it go a little faster. The insructions can be very trying. The "helpful hints" are, most always, at the bottom of the page and tend to be read after you have already run into a problem. (I think the hints should be listed at the top of the page and in bold type.)

If you are looking for an economical storage building and are willing to put the effort in, this is the one for you. If you want some small project that doesn't require a lot of time, buy something else.
...

Do not buy this piece of trash. You need hours to put it up and low behold one snow storm and it gives in.

Can't even hold 4-5 inch load. 12 year warranty ??? My foot. You call customer service at Arrow and they are waiting right by the phone. Even before you utter the damage they are already offering you 50% off roof parts.

You are looking at $250+ with that 50% discount and shipping applied. The whole set of this junk you spent..less than $300.......... so now get a roof every time it snows for $250........... What a racket of ripping you off.
...

shedgirl says "Buying A Shed... This Is A Must Read Review" about Arrow SR68109 Gable Steel Lawn Building (10 ft. x 9 ft.)

Before I begin please read the entire review. In the summer of 1997 my husband and I purchased this shed. Later that summer my mother-in-law purchased one as well. That was 13 years ago and there still going strong. I just ordered another one for her on 03/22/10 due to limited storage space. They both survived Hurricane Ivan which done some extensive damage to our area. This shed has well served it's purpose. There is a few things my dad helped us do that we believe help preserve the life of our sheds.

1. We built a block foundation. There were 9 columns of blocks with 3 blocks to each column.

2. We built a frame for the floor. (11 x 10) Using 2 x 6's we built a square frame and put 3 middle studs 2 x 6's also.

3. We used plywood for a floor. Then we put plywood on the floor.

4. We assembeled the shed on the new foundation.

5. Then we used screws to go around all four sides of shed and bolt it to the plywood floor.

6. We used silicone around the edges and...
...

I bought this shed 2 years ago and have hated it ever since. The floor kit was recycled because it has to be "perfectly" level or else you can't assemble the shed. The instructions fail to point out that once you get the roof on, it is extremely difficult to put the screws in across the top since you can't climb on it to get to the peak. It would have been much faster to have built my own.

The kicker for me was that I just called arrow today because the shed has a 12 year warranty. The roof on my shed collapsed over the winter from the snow (it's been an average winter here in Minneapolis, MN) and was told that the warranty is against RUST ONLY! They offered to sell me a new roof, but that would cost almost as much as the shed did originally. Looks like I'll be recycling this one this spring and building a new one.
...

I will NEVER buy another thing again from this (Arrow) company, their customer service , both phone and on-line, is non-existent. The snow wasn't even heavy yet! The plastic edge along the roof had already snapped. Cold issue and cheap plastic perhaps?

No warranty worth a darn - 12 year limited? What? Limited to sunshine or a little rain but 'Oh please, no snow'

If you loose items in it like I did - be prepared to call your home owners if you have the time - because Arrow DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT. They'll give me 50% discount on all parts I need to repair the unit - that's every part! Except the doors - they fell inside and look pretty good. OR they'll sell you another POS for $300. I don't think so. Thanks anyway guys.

Their response to the photos sent...

PROS: This shed is inexpensive for the room it provides(I got it plus the floor grid on sale for $295); the shed is durable once constructed, although you'd never guess it when you open the 6'x4'x6" box it comes in and see its contents; I live in AZ, so this is perfect for keeping my tools out of the sun; directions for erecting building are straightforward; the sheet metal is forgiving when you're trying to line up screw holes (ie, if you aren't square, you can still make the shed work fine).

CONS: Low entry clearance, so you will bump your head if you're not careful (I owned the same shed at my last house and have hit my head enough to know to duck now); some of your longer-handled tools will not fit upright in this shed (rakes, push-brooms, shovels, etc).

EXPECTATIONS FOR CONSTRUCTION: You definitely need 2 people to put it together (I did most of it myself, but had to have someone help with the wall panels and roof panels). Expect to spend 1-2 hrs prepping the ground, then another......

This has been one sturdy little shed. It has outlasted the severe windstorms and 30+ inches of snow in Jan of 2009. We have had it about 3 yrs.
We anchored it to a cement slab. Yes it has a lot of screws but that's what screw guns and family members were made for. I hasn't budged. Only problem is a large limb fell and sliced a hole in the side. Other limbs have fallen and only slightly dented the top. We LOVE it!!!...

we purchased this item a few days ago and all the time we were putting it up, was like a guessing game. the instructions are not clear. the holes were not punched out on some of the beams and braces.and i am 5 '2" and i can not stand under the main beam and it is suppose to be a 10 X 9 . this does not make sense to me. it also took over two days to put up and that is not including the time to get the ground ready. the measurements are off because i bought three sheets of 4X8 wood panels and i ony needed two and 1/2. so i would not do this again.... the price is right, the customer service was good, but the product can leave you wanting to buy a wood shed. but it is a learning experience. with lots of bumps and bruises.......

Overall, this is a really good product and fairly easy to assemble. Lots of little screws and bolts but no big deal. Just be careful to read directions.....and read ahead 2-3 pages. Some of the directions become much more clear two to three pages AFTER you needed them since some detail that you should have known earlier doesn't get revealed until later. I've assembled 4-5 of these over the past 3 years, for my own use as well as for friends or relatives and ALL of them have the same issues with the directions. Aside from that, it's an excellent product and serves its' purpose very well....

I bought this shed in 2006. It is an excellent alternative to the thousand dollar sheds. I installed it in 2 days, if you have good assembly technics, it will go together easily and will not leak. Must be squared and elevated above ground level (at least 3 inches). The option steel foundation with plywood and flat concrete pavers installed under the outside steel perimeter worked for me. It has resisted 70 mph winds with the optional tie-downs, but assemble only on nice, calm couple of days. The shed has held up nicely and I am going to install another one....

It took me and my sons 13 hours to put this together, but it did go together mostly as described. The instructions are good. I'm hopeful that longevity will be decent. The shed did leak in a few places, but we've patched that with silicone. It should be okay. Decent value for the money. If you want the advantages of a solid wood shed, you'll have to spend a lot more money than this. If you want a simple yard building, this seems good....

I love this building. Our sears store was great I ordered it on Friday and had it on Tursday. It takes a full day to put up.
