I thought I would have a little fun today and stir things up a bit.... Coke vs. Pepsi..... Everyone I talk to seems to have strong feelings either way. Which is better and why?

I'm a Pepsi guy, the girlfriend is a Coke girl. We always have some good natured debate and teasing when we are at a restaurant where only one is offered. Coke seems to win out most of the time in restaurants :(

I like caffeine-free Coca-Cola Classic. I find Pepsi to taste kind of flat and watered-down. My wife is a Coke-head, too.

Coke hands down it actually tastes like real caffinated pop.

Pepsi tastes like they wanted to be different from coke but changed the wrong thing.

Personally I like Pepsi but Coke does win out because it is available in more places, though I'm trying to get off carbonated beverages in favor of stuff like snapple + vitamin water (the gatorade phase is long over for me!)

Pepsi Stinks.  All of their products stink, except for Mountain Dew.

Coke is it.

Tell him that the Fresca with berry flavor needs to be made in greater quantiities. It's almost impossible to get up here because it sells out as quickly as it hits the shelves!

True blue Diet Coke fan over here!  Although, I am curious-has anyone out there tried the newer Pepsi products that use sugar as opposed to corn syrup?  I have been wondering if there is a difference in the taste.

Also-funny that you mention this fun discussion-I think BlueCrew made a comparison btwn a LCD vs. Plasma debate being similar to the Coke vs. Pepsi debate on a thread recently!

Well if you mix a little bourbon in each of them - seems like they taste the same - pepsi here:)

Diet Pepsi!! I've tried other brands every now and then for a change but then settle down for Diet Pepsi.

I'm a Diet Pepsi fan. Coke seems way too sweet.

I like Coke! Although I don't like the taste of regular coke... I would only drink Diet Coke.

Has anyone tried the Pepsi - Throwback? I had it for the first time.... Not a big difference in taste. However, big difference in contents.

Throwback uses real sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup found in most drinks today. It's very hard to get drinks made with real sugar. Previously, only option was to import the drink (i.e. Mexican Coke, etc.) Here is a good article: http://www.bevreview.com/2009/02/09/pepsi-throwback-mountain-dew-throwback/

Malcolm Gladwell says in Blink that Pepsi tastes better when you have a few sips, but when you're drinking cans people tend to prefer Coke... and hence the Pepsi Challenge and the disastrous failure of New Coke.

I personally can't tell the difference and choose Coke only on the basis that they did not have Britney Spears dancing in their commercials.

I can't taste the difference.  I usually just drink Dr. Pepper and sometimes Fanta Grape.

I prefer Coke in a cup with ice when I get a drink from a fast food place, but I prefer Pepsi in the can or bottle. I am trying to switch to sugar-free sodas, but the Coke Zero and Pepsi One products have an after-taste to me. Diet Pepsi is a little better but it has an aftertaste too.

I'm just the opposite. While I do prefer Pepsi overall..... I like Pepsi in a glass on ice much better than Coke. In a can I prefer Coke slightly over Pepsi.....

On a side note, I've gone a bit of a health kick. One major change is not drinking Pepsi/Coke during the week. Pepsi has been my coffee for years! However, during the weekend I do allow myself to cheat.

Cutting out soft drinks from my diet has been rough :( I have a new appreciation for people suffering from addictions.

I have to put in my two cents again, Pepsi is my coffee, and my dentist's face lights up with anticipation when I make an appointment to see him.

Neither!  I drink green tea -- or homemade fruit smoothies!

You are the healthy one on this discussion board, rstinnett!! Seriously! I will get on a kick and just do the tea/smoothie thing, but after a week or so, I am back to coffee or a diet coke here and there.

Small steps!  I went into Dick's Sports Goods yesterday and for the FIRST TIME in my life the lady helping me out actually suggested to me --  yes, me! -- that I consider adding running to my exercise routine.  Two years ago I couldn't have run from the front door to the mailbox and now people are encouraging me to not only take up running, but even consider practicing for triathalons!

Just goes to show... there is no magic pill to all of this.  It's little steps that add up over time.

Better man than I.  My idea of exercise is to bring that glass full of Pepsi to my mouth!!!!
