The Chicago Tribune reports that 20M electric bike sales are expected in China by year end where e-bikes are increasingly threatening traditional bicycles.  The e-bikes are prized for their convenience and relatively low price point (approx. $219 to $366).  What do you think?  Would you buy or have you bought an electric bike?   Why?  Would it complement or replace other means of transportation for you?

Great topic.  Although a little cold to ride now in Chicago...  E-Bikes come in a wide range of prices.  $299 - $2500+  You can find a pretty good selection on Sears.com.   I'll tell you there are many more coming.  Stay tuned.    This is a product where you truley get what you pay for.  $299 is more like a toy and not a serious means of transportation.  Expect to spend $1500 +/- to get a quality piece of transportation.  Types of batteries are one of the biggest variances.  Before purchasing be sure to understand the following: how far can I go on a single charge, how fast can I go, how long to recharge the battery, and how heavy is the bike?  I'm working on a generic buying guide to post.  Keep your eyes open.
