This coffee maker makes tasty coffee, brews quickly and pours without leaking/spilling. Those three features are in my opinion the most important. That said, it's not a perfect coffee maker, either. For example, it doesn't *really* brew 12 cups, because the filter basket doesn't accommodate enough grounds...

We've had this coffeemaker for a month or so. Works perfectly every time. Easy to use, easy to clean. Warmer turns off after two hours. LED clock is too bright - gives the impression the coffeemaker is on when it isn't - a very minor "flaw." Clock always tells correct time so brightness can be overlooked. No, it's not heavy-duty material for use all day in a business setting. But for a couple of cups in the morning in a two-person household, it can't be beat for the price.
This is the best coffeemaker I have ever owned! We bought two more when they went on sale. One as a Christmas gift and one as a spare. The pour spout is wide so you won't spill half your coffee before you fill your cup! Everything about it is great!
I just ordered by second SmartBrew by B&D. I thought the carafe was super because it has the hard plastic around the top of the glass carafe which reduces the chance of breakage when washing. Superb design. Makes good coffee and am happy with Black & Decker!
We've had several different coffeemakers and keep coming back to B&D . Why?- It makes good coffee, The auto shut off, the ability to pour a cup while brewing, speed and ease of making coffee and the overall design. I bought this new one because the one at work failed. No complaints!

Through all my thorough research, I decided to give this a try. After a few months of use, here are my findings:
Coffee quality: Excellent
Time to brew coffee: About 5 min or less. Excellent
CLEANING: This is the easiest machine I have ever had to clean. The flip top lid makes easy access to the back for cleaning. The buttons on the front are molded into the machine so you can use a wet cloth and make a quick wipe up without worrying about getting any coffee into any button cracks.

It brews a decent cup of coffee, but there are two problems with it. First, after using for a while, stale coffee splashes up onto the underside of the lid. Then condensation does the same, and when you open the lid, condensation AND stale coffee run back down into the reservoir, detracting from the taste of the next brew. Also, the basket container gets dirty and, as it is attached to the coffeemaker body, is very difficult to clean.
We have used this model in the past and liked it. But our last two were cheap brand and they dripped badly when we pour. So we are happy to go back to B&D SmartBrew. By the way, I can't give it a 5 star because we never used its program function.

We had this same coffee maker and the taste was great - the pour spout did not drip - overall wonderful - for about a month. Then it just quit working. I clean it everyday and was not a happy camper when I got up one morning last and NO coffee ready . Ruined my whole day.
I have had the coffee maker several weeks, and I cannot get rid of an unpleasant plastic taste. I've run a vinegar-water solution, as they suggest for descaling, and baking soda mixtures but nothing gets rid of that chemical plastic taste.
This is the 2nd (and LAST) Black and Decker coffee maker I will purchase. The first one I purchased the heating element completely rusted out. The drip-less carafe was anything but. Unit died less than 6 months after purchase. Second unit was bought and lasted even less time (about 4 months). Came down a few days ago and went to brew, no coffee, no nothing. would not brew. The carafe was also anything but drip-proof, unless you held the carafe exactly right it would rip all over the place. Bottom line, get another brand, because this one is the pits!!
