Most Helpful Favorable Review

I am very pleased with my purchase. The unit is light weight and was surprised at the cutting ability it has. I have normal hedges and older more mature hedges that have can be more of a challenge but this unit made my job easier. And the price was great at Sears and I did price the same unit at another...

Most Helpful Critical Review

The Black & Decker hedge trimmer that I had just purchased is dull and did not trim evenly. It would rip off the young leaves but leaving the stem. Although the spacing between the saw tooth was wide enough, a stem of about 1/4 in. would not fit into the groove and therefore not be cut. It took me twice...

This hedge trimmer is lightweight enough for me to handle and does a great job on my shrubs.

Good buy

Comparing with price, you cannot expect more from this little machine! But, if it can be more powerful, I could be happier :)

I bought it for my first try at trimming the hedge in our backyard. The black 17' Decker looked right for the price and it did a good job. As I said I never had done this kind of job before, and yet it was very easy and convenient. One minor irritant, though, was that the cord, which I had to buy separately, keeps coming off and I had to plug it in several times during the course of my work.

Black & Decker Hedge Trimmer

I purchased this hedge trimmer 4 years ago and I couldn't be more pleased. The machine is light and easy to manipulate for decorative hedges. Cuts like butter.

This product is almost as good as the Craftmans 14in Hedge Trimmer that I have had for 17 years until it died on me. I was liking for another Craftman hedge trimmer when I found this one on sale. The price is right for this hedger and when I got home I began to use it. It did take long to use and worked great for the price.

Gets the job done

Looking for an inexpensive hedge trimmer to get the job done, then this trimmer is for you. We purchased this trimmer about a month ago. It does a great job at trimming up the hedges. Easy to use. The only draw back is that the power cord disconnects easily while in use. Otherwise its a great value!

Great little trimmer

Just finished an hours worth of trimming. The 17" blade handled all but the thicker branches over 3/8", very well. Excellent value for the limited shrubery I do. Would definitely recommend for most light to medium trimming.

Black & Decker electric trimmer has been very easy to use, no complicated instructions to assemble / operate. Trimmer is useful from very heavy to medium hedges. I have azalea bushes and other hedges that get pretty difficult to handle but when I used my electric hedge trimmer, my task became so much easier. The light weight and effectiveness of the hedge trimmer made my work easy/fast and non-tiring.

gutless

pros- yes it's light and easy to use cons - yes it's gutless and teeth not far enough apart to cut the size I was looking for..but it can't without some more umph... used twice so not long enough to say...last one I had lasted 15 years...

This hedger got the job done, but the most frustrating thing was that the cord kept coming out of hedger. If there was something to control the cord that would have made this product a 5star.

Inadequate

Found this tool to be next to useless on our hedges and am returning it posthaste. It's actually harder than doing it with manual shears. Perhaps it's incompatibility with our arborvitae hedges but it just does a lousy job. I worked with it a bit, thoroughly reading the instructions, trying different techniques, and it just proved to be woefully inadequate. There's nothing apparently wrong with it, nor is it of an unconventional design, but it just can't hack (pun intended) our arborvitae hedges. Given how common these hedge are, this seems surprising.
