Perfect for me

I just moved to a duplex from an apartment so this was my first time buying a mower at all. Having a small yard plus being the type to hate a hassle, I thought an electric mower would be perfect---and it is! It was a snap (literally) to put it together. As a veteran vacuumer, having a mower with a cord... read full review »

Get a cordless instead.

I recently bought my first house and going from apartment living to house and not having to mow a lawn was a change. I figured I'd buy an electric mower, that way I wouldn't have to mess with gas and tune ups for a gas motorized one. I find it difficult messing with the cord. Having to yank on the cord,... read full review »

I thought the corded machine might be a nuisance but I quickly got used to navigating around the cord.  It's undeniable, the cord IS an added hassle compared to a cordless or gas-powered mower, but it's a very slight hassle given our lawn is so small (two 35'x10' sections, basically).  And much preferable to having gas containers and all that.

The engine is powerful enough to gut through wet heavy grass, and the machine is fairly light and maneuverable, even on a hill.  The only real complaint I have is that it doesn't trim very close to obstacles, especially on one side.  The bag is easy to...

THIS MOWER JUST DOESN'T CUT WELL. I NEED TO GO BACK AND FORTH OVER THE CUT AREA TO MAKE SURE THE GRASS IS CUT UNIFORMLY, AND THIS IS WHEN THE GRASS IS TOTALLY DRY. OTHERWISE, THERE ARE UNCUT "TUFTS" LEFT. I WON'T GO INTO WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE GRASS IS SLIGHTLY DAMP! OUR SMALL LAWN SHOULD TAKE MINUTES, NOT HOURS TO CUT!

I'm in love with this mower

I've had a gas-powered Sears mower for years, but finally decided to switch to a more environmentally friendly energy source. This is incredibly easy to start. Because it's so light, I can mow the steep embankment at the edge of our front yard with just one hand. And it's great not to have to stop all the time to empty the bag. Since I just got it, I can't yet vouch for its reliability. The two drawbacks I see are the electric cord, which does get in the way more often than I like. Maybe I'll figure out a better way to handle it. Also, the blade swath is narrower than I'm used to. But you have... read full review »

quick and easy

I battled for the last year with a manual reel mower for my small yard. The grass was so thick I could barely push the mower through it. I went and got this model and I had the back grass mowed in 10 minutes. This is great considering it used to take over an hour! It was pretty easy to put together (except for a problem with one of the wing nuts and crews). Easy to operate and cleans up easily as well! I'd definitely recommend it!

Black & Decker Electric Mower

I purchased this mower because I did not want to pay the exorbitant fee charged by lawn care providers. I can mow my lawn in 45 minutes, with no hassle of gas or oil. My 100' electric cord is plenty to cover my entire lawn around my house. It is powerful and leaves an evenly cut and beautiful lawn. I have paid for this mower many times over by cutting my own lawn.

Make my life easier!!

I have always used an electric mower, neighbors think I am crazy to hassle with the cord, but I have a small front and back yard, 100' cord is more than enough for me to do both yards. Because of the very high gas prices in this area too, electric works great for me! No trips to the gas station to fill the gas can. It is small enough to get under my lilac trees and easily stores in my small utility shed. Now if I can just get my teenager to love it, I would be all set!

Good Job

I would recommend this mower to those with small to medium sized yards, 2000-6000 sf. The 12-amp motor is very powerful (much better than my previous electric) and the mulching feature works well with a minimum of clogging. The key is to not let your grass get too long. The single-lever height adjustment is a very nice feature as well.

Nice - but would think of one missing feature

Nice mower - quiet, cuts well and easy to put together. One feature I didn't think about before buying is that the handle doesn't switch sides when mowing in the opposite direction. You need to physically 180 the machine to go the other way. Could be a safety hazzard if one isn't careful. Next time, would pay the extra for this feature. Other than that - great - couldn't get mow for your money (he-he)

This mower does the job

When my husband retired, we also retired the gardner so we could save money by mowing the grass ourselves. My husband picked out this electric mower as he wouldn't have to store oil & gas and we found gas mowers can be difficult to start. We have a large sloping front lawn and a large grassy area in the back and he cuts both lawns with ease. Plus, the first time in 28 years, we don't have grass clippings filling up our green recycle bins as this mower mulches the clippings and our lawn has never looked better. One note, don't let the grass grow too high before you mow.

Black & Decker electric mower

Wow, this mower is very quiet compared to a gas mower, light, easy to handle and mulches the grass into a fine cut. There is no smell of gas to deal with, and the environment loves that too! Everyone should have one of these.
