Sears carries a great selection of Blu-Ray players from many brands.

If you have any questions regarding Samsung's lineup of Blu-Ray players, I'll be happy to assist.  Naturally I can't compare Samsung players against other brands, but if you have specific questions on features, I'll be happy to help.

If you're gonna play games, grab a PS3. It's also an excellent Blu-Ray and DVD player. The CD music perfomance isn't anywhere near audiophile quality, but 99.9% of folks wouldn't even notice.

If you have no intentions of ever playing games, get a stand-alone unit. You could shop by price(not the wisest), look up and compare performance stats or just stick with proven brands like Oppo, Samsung and Panasonic.

I like Sears a lot, but you're not really going to get much useful info on this forum. Check out AVSForums.com , an excellent resource.

I love my Samsung Blu-Ray.  Great sound and picture quality for a reasonable price.

Whatever player you are thinking about getting just double check to make sure it plays DVD-R or CD-R. Some players, even sony's top end BDP-S560 wont play DVD-R (if you have a lot of burned DVDs/Home Movies). Just something to keep in mind

I have a Sharp player that is about a year old.  I have done two updates on it and it runs great.  Load time is almost nothing.

If you have a nice large 1080p tv and a good sound system the Oppo-83 is the best for the price. $499 direct. Quick loading times. Unbeatable picture and sound. Unreal upconversion of DVD's. I had the chance to see this player in action and it is awesome. If you are looking for value in you're purchase then the PS3 is the way to go. Great picture and ok sound plus you get to play games. The new Sony, Panasonic and LG Blu-Ray players fall into my category. I own a 42 inch Hitachi plasma and Samsung DVD HT system. I need nothing more than a good player for my screen size and low end sound system. Check out CNEt for the latest and greatest.

I bought the Samsung BD 6500 Blu Ray. Quite frankly, I think my Panasonic DVD player is a better picture and sound. It claims to upgrade dvd's to 1080p. It does not. It promises that you can add apps. It does not. It  claims the 6500 will be capable to download Hulu Plus. It's plastered EVERYWHERE I(I notice they removed it on their website when I started to complain). Again, not true. Yahoo? Not true. FearNet? Not true. I'm sending a formal letter to the Washington State's Attorney General. I do not trust Samsung. Get something in writting and signed off that the devise has what it claims to have. My 6500 is a piece of junk. And Samsung? They sell this junk. They need to look at what they promise instead of blaming the merchant. Sears has offered to take it back.
