Warman's Tools - FIELD GUIDE, by Clarence Blanchard.

This here is a small book, with lots of color pictures.

And, its got PRICES!

There's a collectible hammer out there, worth $600.

It's not any of mine, though.

Joanne Fluke is one of my favorites. I also suggest trying some of the recipes in her books. They turn out great!

"Why Are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria?". Skip Part 1, it's a PhD quoting other PhD's to formulate her postulates. Start with either the reader's discussion guide or Part 2 and it may actually answer the question, "Why are all the Sears Kids sitting...?" It's a Good thing.

I second the Jodi Picoult! I've also got a few suggestions not found on most reading lists.

One of the best books I've read in the last year was The Worst Hard Time by Timothy Egan. It's about the Dust Bowl, and it is a series of chapters relating different individuals' personal experiences of the time as well as causes and history of the era.

Garbage Land by Elizabeth Royte was good, too. From the back cover: "This book stinks! It also entertains, illuminates, frightens, and inspires. Part rollicking road trip, part reconnaissance from the scary front lines of the ecological sciences, Garbage Land takes us deep down into a ninth circle of our own making to reveal the maggoty truths of our throwaway culture."

Then, there's The Parrot Who Owns Me by Joanna Burger. Those of us who live with parrots can really relate to this book, a story of a cross-species bond with a lot of good factual information thrown in.

I just found an old Eric Sloane, hardback edition, with intact dust cover of his American Barns and Covered Bridges.

This is a must have book for anyone into nostalgia and old woodworking/farm tools.

Like his other works, the book is filled with wonderfully simple pen and ink drawings of tools and buildings.

This particular book is already a collectible and with a Copyright of 1954, is well on its way to becoming an antique.

Picked it up in a used bookstore for only $3.99.

A wonderful new (2006) title book, named, Back in the Day - 101 Things Everyone Used to Know How to Do, by Michael Powell.

Like the Forgotten Crafts genra of books, this one is fascinating to read.

I really like the Audel series of trades person books.

I have both the Machinists and Carpenters series of volumes of books.

Problem is, the individual books are not numbered.

There are simply additional titles added to the series.

For instance, turns out the Carpenters series includes a Roofing book.

Who knew?

I just finished Eclipse, the third book in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series.  I'm off to start Breaking Dawn--the last book in the saga.

I second the Twilight Saga. They're great books and Stephanie Meyers is a genius! And FYI, New Moon is coming to theaters near you on November 11, 2009!! It's a must see!!! I love these books! they are so addicting!

And if you like the Twilight Saga, you'll love the Night World Series. There are 3 volumes and those books have it all.. Vampires, Werewolves, and Shapeshifters. Good stuff right there! lol

Sears has got a new version of the ever popular; Hand Tools Their Ways and Workings.

Mine is Copyrighted 1982.

The new Sears version is Copyrighted 2002, with a different cover illustration.

At $19.95, I might get it, just to "compare"...
