LockedGetting a fridge into our kitchen

posted on November 14, 2009 at 08:51PM Inappropriate?

We are interested in the Kenmore 78573 24.8 cu. ft. French door fridge.  We finally have a large enough space (37" x 72") in our kitchen for a larger fridge (current one is only about 18 cu. ft) but we're concerned about actually getting it into the house!

The interior door it has to fit through is only a little over 30" wide - exterior door is normal ~36".

Do the fridge doors remove for ease of getting into the house and maneuvering around?  If so, what are the dimensions without the doors (I can find the dimensions without the handles but not without the doors)?  Will it fit?  Thanks for advice!

Be sure to measure the units on the store sales floor and compare them to your door openings.

You can also take the house door off of its hinges for that extra amount of clearance...

Measuring in the store is a good idea, but the fridge we purchased was not displayed in the store.

I have the exact same question (for the same model) - please I need an answer on measurements w/o doors.  Thank you.!!

almost forgot - if I have to take off outside doors would the delivery people do that?

We ended up getting one by GE that we were able to measure in the store.  The sales associate told us that removal of the fridge doors was included in the delivery but I don't know if they will remove doors to your house.  Most exterior doors are 36" though, so shouldn't be a problem.  Our problem is a 30" interior opening into our kitchen (no door there).
