Question: Should I continue to buy an Amana bottom-mounted-freezer refrigerator?
Background: I just bought two (one after the other) Sears Kenmore (made by Amana, 596.75934400) 19 cu ft bottom mounted frost-free refrigerators, and both of them (after 4-weeks) built-up frost / ice on the freezer light to the point where the light switch froze in the open position. The evaporator coils & fins were frost-free and the frig operated normally in all other aspects. I previously had two other identical refrigerators made by Amana that never had this problem (but had other problems), so at one time Amana knew how to make a frost-free frig. These two frigs have electronic controls, where as the previously two had mechanical controls (this should not introduce moist air into the freezer compartment). Where is the moist air coming from? We do not excessively open the freezer door (only approx once a day). Why does the frost build-up only on the freezer light and nowhere else in the freezer?
Do you know what's going on here? Any comments, anyone?
