I used to own a bowflex very similar to this many years ago. Back then it kept me in really good shape and my biggest mistake was updraging to a bowflex ultimate. The difference in the workout and speed was noticeable and i stopped using it. After a while it got sold and here we are about 5 years later and about 60 lbs heavier. I weigh in at 245lbs @ 6ft. After looking myself in the mirror I recaled how well I did with this style of bowflex and bought it while on sale. Here we are 2 weeks later and things are going well, dropped five pounds while working out for about 45 minutes a day. The first week took some adjusting to remembering how to do the different workouts. With a bowflex to be sucessful form is key more so then weight and reps. I know I would have even dropped more pounds if I worked harder on diet, but I have been taking baby steps to get off the soda and sweets.

I highly recommend looking into the bowflex Itrainer if they still make it. I had my old copy and use it to create...
...

This is a great weight set to get you started on a excercise routine. It's really easy to increase and decrease the weight. Doesn't clank around like metal weights. Good for people on a light excercise routine that's easy on the joints. The drawback is that you'll run out of weights for bench press and upper back excercises. Good value for the price.
...

Found it very easy to assemble, especially since I verified that all parts were in fact included in the box and then proceeded to organize these parts for easy assembly. I work full time therefore put it together at night after dinner which took a total of 4 hours. User manual with exercise sets and actual work outs are great. No bother with heavy weights to change inbetween sets, just smooth change settings. Very happy and extremely satisfied with my purchase...and Sears had the best price!
...

My career pushed my weight gain, fueled by constant travel.

For as many benefits the great state of Maine has, a nearby gym in a rural state is not one of them. I did a lot of research on home gym products. I decided on a Bowflex based on reviews.

Assembly was easier than most raters exaggerated it to be. Product packaging was truly a modern marvel but broke down quickly. Components were labeled well and I could tell folks likely have the most trouble with bolt lengths. Use the instructions and you'll be fine. It took about an hour and a half to fully assemble.

Price was best at Sears. Not only reduced compared to Amazon, but also on sale when I ordered. I opted for pickup as Sears will ship to the closest store location to you. About 5 business days later, the stock employee loaded the Bowflex into the bed of a compact truck. Avoid a car, but the system should fit in any SUV or truck.

The fitness instructions are nice. I'm a computer wiz so I made a workout routine using MS Excel.......

I investigated reviews on the Bowflex PR1000 and pretty much went off the opinions from other owners to make the decision to buy the machine. A lot of people said the assembly of it was challenging but I thought it was fairly easy, took me about an hour. Half of it was organizing and inventorying the pieces and hardware prior to assembly. I was impressed with the quality of the frame and seat cushions, you won't see a better built machine in a gym. After assembly I immediately jumped on and tried some exercises to see what the hype was about and found the only disappointment in the machine. If you can lift more then 180 LBS of free weight in a bench press, this machine won't have enough weight. I stacked the 210LBS on and can do fly presses with ease. The "210LBS" is a joke and I would recommend getting the upgrade if it is possible or another machine. I figure it will be great for toning up but I don't think your going to pack on the muscle on this machine. I would generously give the......

Putting the Bowflex together I immediately noticed how durable and just heavy all the parts were. The Bowflex is built to last! My wife and I have been using it often and already seeing results. Many of my friends have always used free weights. When they try our Bowflex they're always impressed with how much resistance you can get out of something that takes up such little space. Another couple we hang out with has already made plans to buy one of their own. Great value for the money, and you won't find it at a better price anywhere else!...

We bought this machine last week and really enjoy it. Some of the previous ratings state that it took a few hours to put together, but my husband had it together in less than an hour. It took longer to unwrap everything than it did to put together.

We will probably upgrade to higher weight resistance in the future, but it is ok for starting out. Really good for the money and we enjoy using it. Slightly larger than i excpected, but still smaller than most other bowflex systems.

Good buy!...

I just bought the bow flex PR1000. I wanted to review the assembly of the PR1000. It was simple to put together great instructions. I had it together in about 2 hours by myself. The machine is bigger than I thought so make sure you have some room. But it also folds up. Seems to be well built and sturdy. I will review the machine after I have had it for a while. I did work out on it today and to my surprise it gave me a good work out....

As a visually impaired person unable to find a gym that would serve my needs I decided to go the home gym route. I picked this product because setup of free weights or even a conventional weight machine would be too time consuming. With Bowflex I can adjust the resistance easily without having to try to look at the amount of weight i am setting up. range of motion is smooth and with even the light use I am putting into it right now i feel much better. i have paired this workout with an elliptical and it's really all I need!...

The Bowflex PR 1000 has far exceeded my expectations. I was seeking to get back into shape, and the Bowflex PR 1000 has proven to be an excellent way to achieve this. I've only had it about a month but already I can feel a difference in my health. The PR 1000 offers plenty of exercises and is fairly easy to use. It was also relatively simple to assemble. I love working out with this machine. In fact, I was using it so much my shoulder got tired and I had to take a sabbatical from lifting. At the price I paid, this was a great deal, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good home gym....

We have had the Bowflex set up in our house for a couple of days and we are happy with it. Very easy to set up. Item was well packaged and probably spent 1/2 hour of my time unpacking everything throughout the assembly. It took me a little over two hours to put it together and I was taking my time with it.

The excercises are very smooth and I feel you get a good range of motion which is the main reason I did not want weight stack machine. The PR1000 resistance is not upgradable like some other bowflex machines, but I knew that prior to purchase.

The main reason I bought the machine was for safety and speed of workout. I perfer free weights but when working out by youself in the morning you don't get the use of a spotter. Also, when limited to time, the set up of barbell and dumbells can be consuming. I can easily cut 10 minutes off of my strength work time due to the ease of changing excercises and resistance. This leaves me more time for the cardio work....
