“The belt is quieter than the chain it replaced. ”

We ordered the Chamberlain to replace the Craftsman because it was on sale online. From our research, we knew they both had essentially the same working components. If the Chamberlain lasts 15 years like the Craftsman, we'll be happy.

I purchased this 1/2 H.P. unit in may of 2008. I was astonished to find that the unit sat in a box for 5 years in the shop I bought it in. “So far, it's a dream.”

 

I can't speak to the issue of longevity, since my opener was installed just 3-4 weeks ago, but it functions beautifully.  It's so quiet, like a babbling brook, compared to my old noisy Sears opener, which gave up after 11 years of service.  The remote opens the door from several houses away, and the keypad is a wonderful feature. Now I can go for walks without having to carry a remote with me to get back into the house.  (As long as I don't forget my 4-digit code!)

“Very quiet & easy to install”

I bought two of these openers for my new construction house and had them both installed in 5 hours. The instructions were easy to follow and even gave you a few extra parts!

“High Quality Product and Installation”

We've had the opener for over a month now and what a difference.  As stated in the desription, it lives up to its word...very quiet.  Previously had a chain drive which was very noisy.  We have a living space above the garage and we can barely hear the opener when it is activated.  Also, just to reinforce how quiet it is, our three cocker spaniels don't bark anymore when the door goes up...they don't hear it!  We had it installed by Sears and the two gentleman had it up and working in 45 minutes.  Very professional!

“Greatest Garage Opener...Period”

Like several other reviewers, we have a bedroom over the garage. At night I'd wake up my wife when using the old chain driven garage door opener. The Chamberlain belt driven really is whisper quiet. We can't even hear the door be opened from upstairs now. That means many nights of sound continuous sleep and less time for me in the "dog house". Do yourself a favor and spend the money. You won't be disappointed.

“One more feature would be nice........”

I've owned this opener for six months now and it's worked flawlessly. I couldn't be happier cept one thing. I would like to see an option where you tell the opener NOT to turn on the lights when you use the "in the garage on the wall" switch. There is a button on the wall mount that you could push if you want the light on. With the car remote the light should come on but even then you could have it set to not come on then push the light button on the remote to turn the light on if you needed it. Reason?? I use my garage door as my front door. I don't need the light to come on when I open the garage... read full review »

“Pleased with purchase”

I would suggest going to Chamberlains website. chamberlain-diy.com Find the opener you like, download and review the Owners Manual before you purchase. If this is your first garage door opener, I would recommend looking a page 23 of the 1/2 hp belt drive. It refers to a vertical reinforcement plate for the topof your door, where the lifting bracket attaches. It is not part of the haedware. Your local hardware store might carry one. I installed two units a month ago and I am very please to date.

“Extremely quiet”

We did a lot of research and bought this garage door opener for our new house. We absolutely love it. It is exactly as described....whisper quiet! We have a room above the garage and we can't hear the garage doors open. It works beautifully. We would recommend this product to anyone!

“chamberlain garage door opener”

The purchase and delivery went very smooth in a timely manor. The belt driven opener is very quiet, you can hardly hear it when it runs. I installed it myself replacing the old screw drive in aprox 3hrs. I've had it working aprox. 1 month and now problems, works great and I recommend it highly over the screw or chain drive types.

“quiet”

I have only had this product for 2 weeks or so. It is very quiet and generally works well. The only problem I have is, the openers do not always open the door. I called Chamberlin and according to them this may be due to two things: The unit can NOT be plug into an extention cord, it must plug directly into an outlet. FYI, if your unit is pluged into an extention cord via an outlet, this voids the warrenty. The other reason may be because my washer and dryer are out in the garage and they may be causing interference. I'm hoping once I install an outlet to plug the unit into directly, the problem... read full review »

“Easy to setup, easier to use”

One of the best openers out there! Installed, setup, and running in about two hours with no problems. And did it all by myself, couldn't be easier. Motor is super quiet, my daughter's room is directly above the garage and she can't hear a thing when it goes up or down (she didn't even realize it when I was doing the safety testing which involves cycling the door up/down several times!). Put another one up in my wife's friend's house and she just loves it as well. Simply put, AWESOME!!!!!

“Whisper Quiet”

We replaced our Genie ScrewDrive with the Chamberlain Whisper Quiet. It really is whisper quiet...it was a shock at first. Definitely recommend it.

“This garage door opener is super quiet and works great!”

I love this Chamberlain Whisper Quiet belt drive garage door opener!  You might think that "love" is a pretty strong term for a garage door opener, but after you've lived with a super noisy screw drive one that had numerous issues, including not closing all the way and going back up as you leave the driveway - and then you install this one and find that it works great and is SO quiet - well then you'd understand why I love this one!  LOL

Honestly, we are very happy with the way this one operates and would definitely recommend it.
