Now that Halloween is over, I am so excited to start decorating for the holidays (both Thanksgiving and Christmas!) What are your favorite holiday decorations to use?

I love white twinkle lights! And the Christmas Tree (always real) is a key part of my holiday decorations. Everything revolves around that for me.

Christmas trees are the leading cause of landfill overfilling. We only ues reusable resources here in Alaska. Douse pinecones in gasoline and tie them up with chicken wire and youve got some natural christmas lights that wont run up your electricity bill.

Hahaha, what about just using plastic trees? And what are your thoughts on using LED christmas lights to save energy?

I really like the lights we put on the bushes in front of our house. Coming home at night to see them all lit up feels so festive.

We also do a tree, which is covered in ornaments that have been given as presents.  I think we have bought a grand total of 5 ornaments since we have been doing the tree as a family.

Do any of you often give ornaments as gifts?

I like the various Craftsman tool ornaments.

You got the colorful resin ornaments.

And, then there are the awesome metal ornaments.

I give the metal ornaments to friends.

"Now, you too can, wear a tool ornament year round, like me.

My tree is already all set up.

Not Christmas tree.

That would be strange... (being around in August).

My tree is a Tool Tree and stays up year round.

My family always had a few decorations out to celebrate Thanksgiving. My mom liked making a cornucopia out of dried maize, mini pumpkins and other things to use as a centerpiece for Thanksgiving dinner.

Does your family decorate for Thanksgiving?

Well, there's always a new tool ornament to be added to the festive Tool Tree.

Besides the miniature Craftsman ornaments, there are the ratchet part ornaments - including the tree topper 1/2 inch drive ratchet drive gear, the hardware ornaments and I even have some old brass - metal lathe turned - "icicles".

Very festive, year round!

When I was young and at home, we would go to my Grandmothers for Thanksgiving.  She had this turkey dish thing full of tiny plastic turkeys maybe an inch long and it would be moy job to place one at everyones place as a decoration.  She's been gone for a few years now, but I still remember those turkeys and how fun they made the whole dinner feel.

It's funny how much decorations can make a difference for having a great Thanksgiving or Christmas season.
