I really love shopping at my K-Mart! I can get a lot of things done while I'm there like fill my prescriptions and but water and everyday necessites. My only beef with the store buyers is that they never carry nice clothing for people my size. I always have to go to stores like Lane Bryant or Catherine's if I want to buy nice clothes and I'd like to be able to do it at a regular store and not a specialty store. Why is that such a big deal?

I agree I am also a plus size and would love to find nice AFFORDABLE clothing where I shop for the rest of my family, What I see is usually not very  attractive, I knoiw the clothes exsist. I also know Sears/KMart can  do this and become a leader  for doing this

I am glad there is someone besides me that wishes stores like KMart provide affordable clothing for plus size women.  With the economy the way it is, it would be nice to find clothes that are affordable as well as made for us bigger people like the designer jeans and such.

You can really find some nice full figure clothes at Sears.  I couldn't believe it when I went looking for something for a friend and there they were.  And on top of that the blouses were on sale for $12.00.  You cant find anything decent for that price at Lane Bryant.  Have you ever tried Roamans.com?  They are really good and always hav sales.  Hope that helps.  I agree with you about KMart.  They have nothing decent for the bigger woman but maybe they will improve someday.  A good day to ya'

I am a thirty something that has a really hard time finding plus size clothes. I really need petite plus and this size category is really hard to come by. Talbots and occassionally Lane Bryant carry what I need but at a high price. I don't shop Kmart and Sears I find things hit or miss, but for the most part I would have to be 80 to enjoy the styles I find. It is so disappointing since I have seen much improvement in the styles in Sears other women's departments. Having 2 kids I shop online quite a bit, for either store I don't even bother, because the selection is sad. I would love to see Sears be a one of those stores that carry this specialty category. It really could boost business being an affordable competitor to Talbots.

I agree with all of you.  I am also thirty-something.  It seems that the plus-size clothing at most places is made for much older people who no longer wish to look stylish.  I am also very conservative, and find that most plus-size tops are very low cut.  Just because I am a larger woman does not mean I wish for everyone to see my cleavage.  I am also disappointed with the bra size selections.  I need at least a DDD, but not in a 44 or above.  I wish I could find bras at KMart for under $20 like smaller women can.  STORES- TAKE A HINT AND HIRE A PLUS SIZE BUYER WHO IS ACTUALLY PLUS SIZE AND YOUNG ENOUGH TO STILL HAVE SOME STYLE!!

I guess I am a little late getting in on this discussion.  As a plus size "older" woman (47), I can find blouses (casual to casual office attire) at Kmart.  In fact, I just bought over $50 in just tops last week that were all clearanced price.  Didn't pay over $4 for any of them.  Now they aren't fancy.  As I said they are casual, but I would wear all but 1 to church, a nice restaurant, work, etc.  My only problem is pants are all elastic waist, nothingness.  And a lot of times blouses aren't long enough.  Lane Bryant, btw is a great store for plus size woman.  I shop there ALOT.  And yes they have some hellavua deals.  I agree with estomps about bras and the store hiring a plus size buyer.  I think though to say "young enough to still have some style" is a major slam on some of us.  I know women much older than myself with a lot of style.  Just needs to be a woman that is open minded enough to think outside of their age range.  I know I still keep up on fashion trends and whatnots.

I am a plus size woman that is also tall with big bones. I can never find a pretty

watch or bracelet that fits my wrist. I don't want to always have to wear men's

watches or constantly check my cell phone to know the time.

I AM ALSO A PLUS SIZE WOMAN WHO HAS TO GO TO THOSE SPECIALTY STORES TO FIND NICE FITTING CLOTHES. SEARS DOES CARRY SOME, BUT THEIR QUALITY IS NOT AS GOOD AS SOME, AND THEIR SIZING RUNS SMALL. I ALWAYS HAVE TO SIZE UP 1 SOMETIMES 2  SIZES TO FIT. WHAT`S UP WITH THAT?

I am plus size and I also have the same problem when I shop at Sears. Maybe if the buyers get clothes from somewhere besides China where everyone is very tinny we could have a nice selection. And I also agree with estomps it would be nice to buy a bra that didnt cost $40 or more. I would love to see stylish clothing. Just because your plus size doesn't mean we dont want to look nice without spending an arm and a leg to do it.

I am a plus size (with petite length) 51 year old woman and buy quite a few clothes at Kmart, because the price is reasonable and I can usually find things to fit.  I agree that it would be nice to find some more fashionable clothing in plus size (including petite length).  I would be looking for something that would be appropriate for my age, size, and occupation, however.
Chic brand has a casual elastic waist cotton/polyester blend style of slacks (in average and petite lengths) that I buy regularly.  They have side pockets.  They always fit, so I do not have to try them on.  I watch for additional colors as there is not always a wide color selection at any one time.  (I must keep checking back to find other colors.)  I do frequently find the nonbasic colors on sale.  When I find other colors, I usually buy 2-3 sizes because I am working very hard to lose  weight.  If I do not buy the colors when I find them, I cannot count on finding them later.  These are inexpensive enough to buy several, especially when I find them on sale.  These are casual but good for work.  They wash and wear pretty well and are not easily snagged.  I am a teacher.  I can usually get by without ironing them, but the light beige ones always need pressing and the lighter colors seem to show a lot of wrinkles when you wear them.  This style also comes in blue jeans, but it is often difficult to find anything but the faded ones that look worn.  The dark blue ones are great.  I wish this same style came in a dressier fabric, also.  I would purchase many colors if it did.  I must now purchase any dressier slacks at another store.  This same style comes in smaller sizes as well.
I have found some tops and blouses in plus size, but most of these are more casual.  The blouses usually need ironing, and I do wish I could find many more that were permanent press.  Some of the tops are way too low, especially to wear to work.  I have not been able to find any dressier clothes in plus size that were right for me, with the exception of some Kate Jackson short sleeve knit tops that were on sale.  There do not seem to be many dressy clothes in plus sizes at all.  I also have not been able to find regular cardigan sweaters in plus size, petite or average length.
I have found some great sales at Kmart.  I purchased winter coats at 50% off the last two winters.  I have found some wonderful sales this week.  I have purchased many tops and blouses for $3.50, $4, $5. and $6.  Many of the other clothes were 25% off.  I even got a pair of Chic jeans for $3.  I did have to go to two different stores to find what I did, but I got some great deals.  Definitely check out their clearance sales for some exceptional bargains.  Kmart always seems to have great clearance sales.

I agree with you all K-Mart is a great place to shop the only difference between K-mart and lane bryants is the price..Cause the clothes are just as ugly. They must feel just because were big size people that we should ware the ugliest clothes around. There always plan or have flowers like the old people wear...There is no reason on this earth why they couldn't make a shirt longer and with much better prints and styles..I wish I had the money to start a clothing line cause I'd really show them how to dress..

I would love to see plus size clothes that aren't all old lady clothes. I see so many junior clothes I wish they had in my size and I'm 38 years old!

I agree with you all about the selection of plus clothing.  I go between plus and extra large sizes.  I am a fairly young person and hate that I have to resort to elderly fashions for "normal" sized people.  Has nobody told these people that horizontal stripes make you look bigger and that is all you can find in plus clothing!!  I have found that Ross carries a great selection with younger styles, as well as Cato Plus.  Cato has great clearance racks!!!

I agree with some of the comments, I am also a plus size, but not to the point that I need clothes that look like grannies. Lane Bryant has clothes for the plus ages teens to mid thirties.

I couldn't say it any better than you all have said it. It is so frustrating shopping for plus size dress clothing. I enjoy the 60% - 75% sales days at Sears, however, I'm still not convinced that the full figured woman is not taken advantage of. Shopping online has not been favorable for me. What is the key to making sure what you order will fit right the first time? I hate sending things back.

I live in a small town where the only department store is Kmart.  Don't get me wrong sometimes there is really good sales and then there are the really bad ones.
Being that Kmart is the only department store available to such a small community you would think there would be more choices and there just isnt.  It does not have a wide variety of clothing for the plus size women and by that I mean nicer clothing choices...it seems to revolved around the "older" group of women, no pun intended.
Again being the only department store without driving an hour one way or the other, there has to be more variety and better quality products as well.  It needs to upgrade and make the store bigger to draw more economic growth for the company and the community.

Amen to the big flowers and stripes, too.  What possesses the designers to protray us larger ladies as tropical (ugly) gardens?  Do we get overweight and start losing our good taste?  No way, they should really get out of the old lady mode and try to recognize us for real sexy women, it would be so nice to be able to afford a wonderful wardrobe that also flatters large women no matter what age.  We cannot all shop LL Bean, Lane Bryant, etc.--some of Wal Mart, Sears, and Target people get the drift, but we still spend hours looking for comfort AND beauty!!

I was just checking out the Plus size clothes on the Sears and Kmart sites. Most of the styles and colors are pretty cute. I think I might post a discussion question about Fall clothes for Plus Size women. Look forward to your comments!

Even though I like to see the clothes I buy and feel the material, I've been buying more and more online lately with decent luck. If you don't find what you like in the stores, you could try online since it's pretty convenient.

I have to try these plus size clothes for women at K Mart.  Our sears is just too small but K Mart is rather large.  I need concervative clothes for work, though.  We shall see.  Thank for this discussion.  You have been very helpful.

I would like to know what sloper the Kmart Plus designers are using?  The Pink Kmart clothes are always a size larger than the Basic Edition.  There is too much variance in the sizes.  Get all the designers at your store on the same page with the same size slopers for their designs and include J. Smith, too.

I agree with the previous post about living in a small town..I do too, and K-Mart/Sear's selections of plus size women's outfits are sad to say the least. I am in my late twenties, and wear a size 16. I do not think it is too much to ask to be able to find some fun, professional, stylish, and inexpensive items.

I wish the stores would increase the sizes of these departments. In both stores in my town, there are only a handful of racks of clothing (mostly styles for older women). I hate seeing 6 racks of plus size outfits, and 12-20 racks of non-plus size women's clothing in the misses or ladies department. I wish these selections were equal, so those of us who want the items that Sears carries in the small sizes in the plus-size devision can find them.

Please, stores, get more outfits, items, and options for us ladies. I hate going into a big city 2 hours away to buy cothes, and mail-order gets old. I would spend locally if the items were available and of a much better style/fit/price.

I have been pleased with some of the recent additions of plus sized jeans at both Kmart and Sears.  This is a start, but there is a long way to go for me to make these stores the primary ones I shop for clothing.

All the folks here who are slamming those of us who have been around for a few years will hopefully live long enough to feel that same sting of reproach for having lived.  WE are not the reason the idiot designers do what they do.  However, I can't think I would ever want a shirt so short that not only would my belly button show - but so would a whole lot more.  THAT isn't "fashion" IMHO.  Equally, it isn't high fashion to have layers of lace and undergarments exposed.  Some BBW DO know how to dress w/ flair and dignity - regardless of their age.  Other BBW are absolutely clueless - wearing skin tight clothing that shows all the rolls and piles of flesh.  I would suggest we all look in the mirror and figure out whose fault it is if we look less glamorous than we would like.

I just bought 4 new tops at Sears this morning. They were on sale plus I had a 20% off coupon. I do think it's hard too find blouses that aren't cut really low. I'm short bodied so my belly button would be showing in half of them. I hate buying jeans anywhere. I started Weight Watchers 3 wks ago so hopefully shopping will get easier.

I agree with the plus size ladies... it's very hard to find stylish clothes for our sizes, and ladies  just because one is a little older does not mean they don't wish to be stylish. I find that the clothes in most  for plus size girls  have no style. From time to time in Sears they have some nice items but most oftenthe tops are too low cut, and the dresses are too short. I'm 5 10' and trying to buy a dress in my size at a decent length is almost impossible.  Sears use to sell a brand by the name of Laura Scott Woman, great dresses, blazes and tops, but i haven't seen this brand in recent years. I hope thy get it back, but also Laura Scott Wman please make the dresses a little longer or start a tall womens size. To all of you plus size ladies, keep lookin good!
