Why is it a no no ? W ill it ruin the player or because I need to read between the lines as to it being a no no :D

because its not officially supported but as long as your discs are in good quality it should not ruin the player.

Thank You very much for your help. I'll keep you updated. I'm waiting on my LG 47"LH90 and a Blu Ray player and I'm going to have to have someone come  & hook up & calibrate my surround sound & I'm not too sure if the TV needs to be calibrated or not I've heard yes & no.

I bought a Toshiba Blu-Ray and in order to hear a dvd or a Blu-Ray I have to turn up the sound real high. Is anyone having the same problem?

Do you have a cable box?

Most HDTV have horrible speakers, so I would blame it on the speakers of the tv first. If you are just hooked up through HDMI its basically going to be as good as what your tv allows.

When did you order that tv, I sure hope you get it with no issues that is probably the hardest tv in America to obtain right now.

To be honest you really dont need to pay anyone to do any calibrations, the HTIB will come with a mic and you use the mic to equalize the speaker levels to make sure they are correct, and all 09' LG tvs have the picture wizard, in which the picture wizard optimizes the tv to its surrounding areas. ( built in calibration)

It should be here by Friday. You're right, it was a nightmare to get but patience prevailed. I ordered it on 11/29/09 came in around x-mas and had an issue with price but I got it for 1399.00 plus a free blu-ray for waiting so long. I'm really hoping that there aren't any problems either but it was clear that they'll send me a new one if  this one is bad. The Co. is a high end retailer. I just happened to find by accident.

make sure your cable box is set with volume set turned all the way up. Cable tech can tell you how to do it and should work. Try it maybe that might be the problem. My dvd did that & got a new box and the tech set it with volume up and now dvd's are louder and sound better.Good Luck.

I have a Samsung Blu-Ray player. Looks fantastic when connected to my 1080p Samsung HDTV. All I need now are some decent home theater quality speakers.

Do U have quality HDMI CABLES like MONSTER? The reason I ask I just rec'vd a Blu-Ray player and I was told not too skimp on the HDMI Cables. The Monster cables are pretty expensive. I have a Harmon Kardon Surround system and I matched it up with a LG 47"LH90 Sounds incredible. The only thing that I've noticed is when a person moves fast it looks like heat waves coming off of them. Any Suggestions? I was told that I need some quality HDMI Cables . I would get some nice POLK SPEAKERS, U won't be sorry.

Why, and how can you back that up. I've heard horror stories reguarding this issue. Poor picture, slow response, etc. As soon as they upgraded their cables they were sorry they even tried to get away with el cheapo's.

The main difference between a cheap cable and when I say cheap I guess still from a retailer. Like we carry some $30 Phillips cables, or some cables that come in a $40 Belkin kit. Both of those companies are well known for making quality accessories. I wouldn't go buy a $9 cable on ebay (like many do)

Anyways the biggest difference between $100 monster cables and $30 phillips cables is insulation. Thicker cables allow for less interference and less damage if your cables are poorly run, and/or are snaked together with countless other wires.

$100 for an HDMI cable is obsured and the benefits do not out weigh the cost. Good wire management is what plays the biggest part in cable performance.

I have a cheap bargin HDMI, no stutters or loss of quality.

Yeah- I have a $20 HDMI cable that I picked up- does the job fine.

Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Watchmen, Inglorious Basterds- watched em' all on my Blu-ray player, and it looks great.

What would cause some shows on cable (time warner) cable box and their HDMI cable coming out of the cable box to make the picture look like there are let's say vapors or it looks like the movements of people are under water

one thing I didnt see addressed here, but blue ray players are all over the board right now when it comes to features.  You can for instance purchase a blue ray player that will play blue ray discs only.  Be sure of what features you want and are getting.
