We just purchased a new 52" sony LCD and blue ray player for our apartment which we are installing on wall. We have an old boise surround sound system and don't want all those wires. Can anyone suggest an inexpensive system that would be suitable for an apartment?

Hire an installer (check Craigslist).  Ask the installer to install the wiring in-wall, and then drywall (toothpaste) over the hole when you vacate the apartment.

If you are going to route wires in the wall, please, check with your landlord. Modifying apartments without landlord consent may cause you to loose your deposit. To protect yourself, get it in writing. Toothpaste to hide the holes? When you leave, don't hide the wires, talk with the landlord, say the wiring is an improvement and will only increase the value of the apartment when you leave. Hire a professional. Hiring someone from Craigslist is risky. ALWAYS make sure they have insurance AND workmens comp'. [Insurance protects you from damages they may cause, workmen's comp protects the workers if they get hurt on the job.] The landlord may have an electrician/technician he would prefer to use.
