Maybe we should start calling ourselves "The Sears."

Ha, the -mart would be awful too. I sometimes wish the sign still said Sears Roebuck because it is the original name.

The Hut, really?  I havnt heard of that.  Maybe radio shack is changing their name because they havn't acually sold radio parts in who knows how long.

Actually radio shack does still carry radio parts. Usually the back of the store has a 12 foot section with oodles of drawers loaded with capacitors, pcbs, lights, and even doo-dads!

But really, The Shack?

I think im going to punch somebody for that. Way to change your image. At least radios are electronics. Just calling it The Shack makes it sound like it will sell barn & farm supplies. YeeHaw, I'm headin' to the shack, ya'll!

I looked at an insert going into Sunday's paper, and they have actually trademarked "The Shack" as their own. It looks like they're using it as a nickname for now. Anybody remember Auto Shack? They got sued by Radio Shack and had to change their name to Auto Zone!

Does "The Hut" have a Star Wars theme?

Where's Jaba?

Do they sell sticky-buns?

I've got an old package of assorted tube sockets from "The Shack".

Tubes are those glass things that glowed faintly red inside, were hot to the touch and whose equipment always needed to "warm up" before it started working.

And, radio is like a CD player, set on random track playing/ with more than one musician coming out of the "speaker" (as in ONE).

The music on radios is "free".

Got your attention on that one, didn't I?

And, radio stations had "ranges", sort of like "bars" on the old Cellular Phones...

I got a tube "tester", too.

Haven't seen my RCA Receiving Tube manual for years.

Don't know if it's still around here "somewhere" or not.

IHOP is an excellent name, "The Shack" honestly, I guess these companies really dont understand that its not always the name on the door but the way its run on the inside. Plus the name is stupid.

Actually i just talked to someone at Radio Shack today about it, and he said its just for their marketing, all the stores are still going to say Radio Shack, they arnt changing their name, just their image. You know, trying to be hip. I can understand that i guess, especially considering they are really focused on selling cell phones now, so being attractive to kids and selling lots of cell phones sounds perfect.

Maybe Sears should change their name to "The Store"?

Don't forget that Kmart has also tried to re-invent itself through name changes:Kresge, Kmart, Big K, Super K, Big Kmart, Sears Essentials.....  Marketing needs to understand that name changes don't make for more customers.  You need to change more than the name to attract new customers.  Same stuff inside will generate the same results...
