When I first started up this sander and tried it out with the sanding disks supplied, I was disappointed. Before I decided to throw it away, I decided to cut disks out of real sandpaper and used double sided foam tape to hold the disk to the sander. I was very impressed then. Now I don't have to worry about finding the disks and paying too much for them. Also, you can find hook and loop disks that aren't too expensive if you don't like using the tape.
I doubt it will last very long, but I could be wrong. It does not sound or feel like the typical Craftsman product, but at this price, worth it. If you are going to use it for light hobby work, should be good to go, just be gentle with it.
