3d Sander

When I first started up this sander and tried it out with the sanding disks supplied, I was disappointed. Before I decided to throw it away, I decided to cut disks out of real sandpaper and used double sided foam tape to hold the disk to the sander. I was very impressed then. Now I don't have to worry... read full review »

No One has disks for this thing

Sander was a new item years ago and I think Black and Decker made it or one similar to it. It was 9 bucks around the holidays so I bought one. With shipping it was about 17. No one has the disks for it and it is hitting the trash unopened and unused.

Although it is a little on the light duty side, It work amazingly well on the details for a jewerly box! The feet tend to pop off and have started to damage there mounts( mainly from me trying to make it do things it was not designed for). overall it worked very well you just have to know its limitations and not push them

Unique Tool

This tool is not the most robust item on the market, but it fills a niche and I use it when other tools don't fill the bill. It is flexible for round items, getting into spindles and situations where you are going to have a mix of surfaces to deal with. It is easy to use, ergonomic to hold and does a job that no other tool does as well. It's major shortcoming is the lack of robustness of the flexible attachment points where the sanding disk are attached. The disks can pop off too easily in my opinion. They pop back on, but it can be a nuisance and they do wear. But still, it fills a niche and I... read full review »

Not Bad

This is the second 3 D Sander that I've owned.. When it works.. it's great. However, don't drop this sander on the ground. Something happens to it and the RPM drops to an idle and will not pick up speed, ever. At the idle speed, the housing heats up and stops. you have to wait till it cools down to operate it again.

Don't bother

This sander failed after 10 minutes of use. Total piece of junk! I tried to take it back to my local store and got nothing but a hassle. I even have a service agreement and was told by Corporate office that I had to drive 40 miles to return it. All this for a $10.00 sander!!! I will never buy from Sears again and I have $1000's of dollars in Craftsman tools. Save yourself some hassles, shop elsewhere

disk head connections

I think that the floating heads is the greatest idea for my work on gourds. The biggest problem with the sander is the sanding disk heads fall off when sanding. It is very aggravating when you have to stop turn off the machine and replace the head before starting again.

3D Sander

I used the sander shortly after I bought it and found that it did an excellent job on the project that I was working on. So far that is all I have used it for but I will soon be starting a big job of refinishing 12 Oak Chairs for our Dining room and can't wait to see the results.

Where's the backing pads?

The backing pads were junk. I bought another sander so I could have the pads to finish a project...they broke too. Great idea, crummy construction.

Where oh where

Purchased sander with excitement, sounded like just what we were wanting. We haven't been able to use it because we can't find any replacement discs. Still hand sanding until I decide if it is worth making our own discs!!!

Work on bed of pillows

I carve wooden spoons as hobby and this sander works great. I had the sander for years but could never find a use for it. I normally made furniture and just didn't need it. After retiring, the wife and I started working as volunteers at a lighthouse and had plenty of time on our hands so I took up carving spoons. The sander is great for sanding the bowl of the spoon, especially if you remove two of the sanding disks. The problem that I encountered was that you don't want to drop the sander; your first time will be your last. Make sure that if dropped, it doesn't have far to go. The little speed... read full review »

Not for real use ...

but if you're working on something small that doesn't need much sanding it works pretty good. I've had to make my own disks because they're hard to find. The wheels are hard to keep on and once you've knocked one off it won't stay on. Paid $24 for mine, if they had been $9 I'd have bought 2 so I'd have spare parts. I have a shop full of Craftsman tools and this one shouldn't have the name on it, maybe it should have the KaMe-pART name instead.
