Craftsman 1/2 hp 15" Drill Press (22900) —
I have been shopping around for the press for quite some time. I recently purchased this one from Sears and am very satisfied.
Pros:
1) I spent probably 1.5 - 2 hours in assembly. The manual is well written and easy to follow.
2) I was able to assemble to entire machine by myself. The power head is heavy, but can be done alone if properly planned for.
3) The machine has plenty of power, and spot on once the laser is set up.
4) Well packaged and had no broken or missing parts,
5) Good power and easy to adjust belts for speed control.
6) Easy to use chuck
7) Heavy enough to stay put, but can still be moved around the shop.
8) Quite
Cons:
1) The belt cover could have a nicer fit. I had to bend the latch slightly to get it to close. Minor thing.
2) Laser takes a little time to set up, but works well once done. No 9v battery included, so you will have to purchase seperately to get the laser up and running.
3) Would like to have seen the light power cord integrated into the press electrical system so that it would eliminate one cord. As it is, you have one cord for the press motor and one cord for the light. This is a convenience problem and my one major knock.
I would recommend this drill press to anyone. Great price, even when not on sale.
