Great tool

Received the tool in 4 days. The packing was good and delivery was great. Instructions and assembly were very good. The unit was missing the feed handles, so I called the 800 number and the missing parts were delivered 2 days later. The price was excellent and have been 5 stars if all the parts had been...

Drill press

Very good piece of equipment, however it arrived with a broken belt guard cover. Too much of a pain to try and deal with to replace.

decent drill press, but quality is terrible, laser devise snapped in half second time i used it--got NO satisfaction from Sears, changing speeds can be a pain too, but then i guess i got what i paid for-next time i'll go with Delta or a name brand.

Very well built machine

I had been shopping for quite some time. Through the Club discount, this was just way too good to pass up. Really the only dings I can give this press are that the belt cover could be a little nicer fit and it could use easier laser alignment. Assembly can be accomplished by one person, other than setting the head on the column, which will require 2 people. Once it is all together and the lasers aligned, it is a joy to use. I am looking forward to using this machine for a long time to come. Mine did come missing a set screw which tightens the head to the column. After about a total of a 3 minute... read full review »

4 stars

Overall, it will be a welcome addition to the shop. I have not used it enough yet to rate the assemblies durability. Pros: 1) Assembly was easy and took me less than an hour to do by myself. 2) Heft and build quality of the components is impressive. Much better than some other brands. 3) The press started right up and works well. Possible Improvements: 1) There is a large bolt that needs to be loosened to allow you tilt the table. This is difficult to get to and required a number of trips to the garage to find a tool that would fit. I ended up finding a 15/16 socket with a breaker bar, since neither... read full review »

Excellent Drill Press

I have been shopping around for the press for quite some time. I recently purchased this one from Sears and am very satisfied. Pros: 1) I spent probably 1.5 - 2 hours in assembly. The manual is well written and easy to follow. 2) I was able to assemble to entire machine by myself. The power head is heavy, but can be done alone if properly planned for. 3) The machine has plenty of power, and spot on once the laser is set up. 4) Well packaged and had no broken or missing parts, 5) Good power and easy to adjust belts for speed control. 6) Easy to use chuck 7) Heavy enough to stay put, but can still... read full review »

Drill Press that works well

I finally managed to find and purchase the one major tool that I needed to bring my workshop up to snuff. The only problem that I had assembling this unit was listening to my son complain about the weight when we placed the head on the column. Once set up the drill worked perfectly. I haven't had much of an opportunity to do any major projects yet since my wife is having some medical problems that are keeping me away from the workshop. I look forward to using this tool to do many fun and enjoyable projects in the future. The ease of assembly was a great asset and I really enjoy using the keyless... read full review »

Drill Press

I've been shopping for a drill press and found this one. I am very pleased with the ease of operation. The set up was a little difficult as the first Laser didn't work but a quick trip to the store and it's working. The laser isn't all that important but comes in handy now and then. THe features are easy to use for even a novice.

poor machining

idle pulley machined too small so the pulley is lopsided. sears would only give me the option to return to store even though i drove an hour to get it no option to get it repaired i would just have to try my luck with another

Drill Press is great

This drill press is a great adition to my shop and I really like it, but it still has its cons like everything does.

Pros: It has a serpentine multi-rib belt which is way better than the competitions V-belt, plenty of power, nice paint and finish, the lasers work great, the motor is smooth and quiet, it has a key that you can remove to disable the machine, the table can be tilted and it has a degree sticker to show you the # of degrees you tilted it, the handles can be placed on either side, the chuck is really easy to use and you don't have to worry about losing any key for it, and the belt tension...

poor chuck

The chuck will not hold large bites (forstner) tight enough to keep them from spinning. Makes it useless for drilling large holes.

Easy Setup

This was set up in my garage in about an hour. It was very simple to set up and so far it works very smoothly. I actually enjoyed doing the very first trial on a piece of scrapwood. As for durability, I can't comment on that yet.

15 inch drill press

This is the best press for the money. After researching others, Iwas sold! The knowledge of the sales person in the store was impressive. I had planed to make this purchase for my shop this year but when I received information from the Craftman club it was too good to pass up. Easy to assemble in just over an hour. All the parts were present and in good condition. The instructions were easy too follow, and in perfect sequence. The machine has enought power, and speed selections to do ever job that has been on the table. Pay attention to the laser crosshair in the set up process, and it will save... read full review »
