This is one nice ratchet and I've used it on a ton of projects already.  I love the way the ratchet mechanism sounds when your using it.  Its smooth and powerful sounding.  The speeder is nice too and It doesn't hurt to be able to quick release your sockets so the project goes faster and your sockets have a more positive engagement on the ratchet.  Its great that you can get such a heavy duty, all day use, fine tooth ratchet at such a reasonable price.  The only thing I hate is that you can only get them on-line and so conversely the replacement procedure is more complicated and takes much...

A Golden Oldie...

These Round-head/Fine-tooth Craftsman ratchets are the first of many different types of Craftsman ratchets I now own.

This model ratchet hails from the 1970's and although new models have come to Craftsman, this ratchet's feel remains distinct.

Although out of the stores for years now, and just recently dropped from the 2009 Sears Tool Catalog, all three drive sizes and the two flex-head models (3/8 and 1/2 inch drives) are available online.

Highly recommended.

Great ratchet

I own Snap On, SK and this Craftsman ratchet in 3/8. I thought that I liked the SO the best until I read a tip on the Garage Journal. I disassembled the Craftsman (just a snap ring) and applied a little bit of Permatex Engine Assembly Lube to it. It is by far the smoothest ratchet that I own now, and the thumb wheel and quick release are a big plus. No need to buy a truck brand when you can get this sort of quality at this price.

Best Tool Out Thier

My dad gave me a set of these ratchets one day when i was working on my car. I broke all three of my high dollar ratchets(snap-on, mac And matco). I looked at this 3/4" ratchet and told him it wont last. They have held up to me and my 5' cheater pipe. I have NEVER broke one in the three years i have had them. He told me that they were my grandfathers. Those ratchets got some wear on them but i can under stand why. He bought those ratchets when they came out. I hope one day to hand them down to my kid. Best Ratchet A Person Can Ever Own. Highly recomend to all that are looking for a long lasting... read full review »

I bought the Sears Craftsman 1/2 in drive ratchet as part of a set for my husband as a Father's Day gift  many, many years ago. My Dad had recommended Sears Craftman tools for years. Dad was a working mechanic and he believed that you go for quality not quanity in Tools.   I thought the service warrenty was a lot of hoopla, I didn't believe anyone would stand behind their product.  But when our Craftsman ratchet broke, Sears stood behind this tool. YEAH!!!

We took the Craftman Ratchet to the Sears in our local mall. Found an Associate in tools and gave him the Ratchet.  He took it to...

Ratchet

I have had this ratchet for 35+ years and have been extremely happy with its performance. The fine tooth and thumb wheel make it an excellent ratchet weather removing or installing parts on equipment. The forward and reverse feature is also far superior to other ratchets as your working in tight spaces the ratchets with the levers seem to always get switch to the opposite direction where this ratchet always stays locked the direction you set. I am looking at buying another set of these because you always need a spare or second ratchet when more than one person is working.

34 Years & still going

This is one of the first tools I bought when fixing up my '69 Chevelle in 1973. It is too bad that this type of socket ratchet wrench is not included in any of the tool sets sold at the Sears stores - it is the BEST! I have also used this ratchet wrench as a pry bar and even a hammer over the years and it still works fine - hardly a scratch on it. The fine tooth ratchet and thumb wheel for hand tightening are not found on the other styles. The thumb wheel "speeder" works great for hand tightening / losening nuts, bolts and especially SPARK PLUGS IN TIGHT PLACES (like on ALL newer cars). The other... read full review »

Worth every penny

This is the best ratchet you'll ever use. The double pawl action keeps the ratchet from striping out. Plus you get the benefit of fine teeth so you don't have much of a stroke to pick up the next tooth.

Fine Tooth Ratchets

These are the best ratchets I've used in 30 years. The action is great, comfortable grip (although it doesn't LOOK it) and they last forever. I only wish they sold them in stores instead of on line only. I think more experienced consumers would buy them. Tough to beat the price too for the value.

Just like Dad's

I saw these rachets in the catalogue and thought to myself, "that's just like the one Dad has!" So, I order a set of three, 1/2, 3/8, and 1/4" drives and now that's all I ever use. They fit in tight places with the fine ratchet action. The thumb wheel makes running a nut up easy. The lock button keeps the socket on. And they feel like a tight, well crafted tool. Just like my Dad's that he had since before I was born, more than thirty years ago.
