I purchased the 10 inch over the 9 inch from a Sears store. The 9 inch seemed really cheap and too much plastic. The 10 inch is mostly metal construction with a few cheap parts. I opened a new box but the plastic miter guage was broken. Probably won't use it anyway. I was really irritated that all the hex nuts were some odd metric size. Come on Craftsman. The assembly directions were not clear; some may have trouble with them. For the price and 66 lbs weight I feel it is a good product. A little dissapointed with the cheap trim but if the motor works well then I'm happy.
...

Recently I purchased the Craftsman 1/3 hp Band Saw for projects where the wood was smaller. The band saw sits nicely on the workbench and has easy to reach mounting holes if you decide to bolt it to the work bench or a stand. I do a lot of woodworking with hardwoods and was a little concerned about cutting thicker hardwoods, but it has done everything I have tried and even cut 3" maple without any problems.
For the price it is a a very good value and doesn't shake or vibrate like some larger saws I've used. The table is flat and there is a miter gauge slot for doing cut offs. The blade is fairly easy to change also. I plug my Craftsman vacumn into the back while cutting and most dust is picked up while cuting which makes cleanup faster and easy. I waxed the table top so wood slides easier and to provide some rust protection. The blade guard height adjustment is very easy to use!
It took me about an hour to assemble and get running the first time I used it, but I wasn't rushing......

Want a reliable compact 10" benchtop band saw? If your answer is yes, don't buy this one. The only good thing I have to say about this saw is that it runs quiet. This thing couldn't cut through wet cardboard!! Seriously, it couldn't make it through a piece of 3/16" oak without stopping every inch to let the motor catch up. That was the first and last time I used it. The only way I will ever use this saw again is if I can find another, much more powerful motor that I can mount on it. Wasted money! The thing that really makes me angry is it was priced $40 higher in the store where I bought it than it is on thier website!! Double screwed!! Goodbye Sears.... you USED to make respectable quality tools......
...

This saw has never even been adequate. I have tolerated the poor quality for a long time because I couldn't afford a good saw. Now I realize I can't afford to use this saw because it wastes too much material and breaks when you need it.. The blade walks all the time, it's hard to adjust, replacement blades are hard to find and only available in multipacks.

Craftsmans has always been an iconic American brand, but judging from this Chinese piece of junk, I guess that's no longer the case.
...

I bought this bandsaw from second hand from a guy that only used it for about an hour. I am REALLY putting it to the test right now. I have cut 30" longs and milled them into lumber. I am sawing almond - very hard wood. It stalls now and then. I have also used it for fine delicate cuts. It works great for small stuff. The only drawbacks are that you cannot buy a regular replacement motor like the older ones, this guy uses its own style motor and it is HARD to find blades for it. I looked at two sears stores and two Orchard Supply Hardware stores in my area. Even ************** does not carry these 70 1/2" blades. What the heck??!!!!

Replacing the belt is a pain, you have to remove the bottom wheel in order to get to the belt which is a very bad design. It is not a v-belt, it is more like a sewing machine belt, pretty weak.

In my honest opinion, the tool engineer should be shot! If you can get an older craftsman model or one that has a COMMON belt size. Do your research. The only reason...
...

I owned this for a short time before taking it back. The base was warped and one corner sat about 1/4 inch higher so not very stable to say the least. The wheel castings seemed very low quality. The mitre slide has 1/16" play. The kicker is the odd blade length. You know something is up when Sears doesn't even carry much in replacement blades. I found one opened package at the store and it was $16 for 1 blade when 80" blades were plenty and only cost $7. I don't get it. Hard to believe they would put the Craftsman name on this saw. The 9" option seemed like better quality but to be honest I'm going to try to find a used older Craftsman.
...

Very dissatisfied upon getting this saw and will be contacting sears for a full refund!!...

This saw is an example of why the United States needs to manufacture more products instead of outsourcing to China!

I purchased two of their 10in bandsaws. I RETURNED two of their bandsaws. The FIRST saw had problems in the casting that would have caused opportunity for rust in the base. The SECOND saw was so warped in the base, that it could barely stand upright on its own. The base warped like a tupperware lid that had been washed in the dishwasher. The saw was standing (barely) on two diagonal corners with half an inch wobble.

DO NOT PURCHASE THIS SAW!! Listen to the other bad reviews. This is not a quality product, this is not something you need to waste your time and money on. Yes it comes at a decent price, but the old saying is true. If you are foolish enought to purchase the Craftsman 10in bandsaw, YOU WILL GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!
...

Shopping for a good benchtop bandsaw. Found this Sears model, for a reasonable price. This is essentially a rebranded Rikon 10-305. But for 20% less than a Rikon elsewhere (ordered it online) , and This saw does come with a miter gauge and fence.

Out of the box and assembled, it cuts straight, the blade rides where it should on the tires. Impressed with overall quality, compared to other benchtop bandsaws I had checked out in the big box stores, at similar prices. Dust collection is good, uses a 2.5" port, and does have a brush on the lower tire, which helps trueness of the blade.

Good cuts, nice curves and able to do resawing (though rough) with factory blade. I will add a woodslicer blade and see how that works.

Only issue is the Warrenty. Sears warrenty is for 1 year, Rikon's is for 5 years. Come on Sears, get with the warrenty.

I reccomend this to anyone.
...

After holdiing his temples for about 30 seconds he admitted that he knew nothing about them. I asked if there was anyone that worked here that did...he soon remembered of ONE person that might.

I waited for this gentleman to walk me through the finer points of the saws and he admitted wheat a pain in the A** that it was to set up. I thought that a strange4 selling strategy but I was in the market for an inexpensive saw to make about 20 cuts.

I purchased the 10" band saw and took it home. After a huge waste of time setting up thie saw with very poor instructions that left KEY components and steps out of the manual. I attempted to make some rudimentary cuts in pine 2x4 lumber, one of the softest woods. After 5 attempts, each one cutting a less straight line than previous, I adjusted the tool with the recommended guide and tension adjustments, the blade completely sheared off in the soft...
...

I have many many craftman tools which I absolutely love..... but this is not one of them. If you're looking for a cheap saw to rip and cut a few curves then you found it. If you're looking to make any precise cuts, prepare for frustration. You can't rely on the fence for straight cuts, bottom guides are hard to fine tune and hopefully you have an hour or so to dedicate to getting the blade to stay aligned. Better yet, hopefully you'll never have to chance the or adjust the blade at all.

I'm still a huge fan of craftsman but if someone would break into my garage and steal anything, I wouldn't be heart broken if this is what they walked out with.
...
