What can I say? Pull it out of the box, snap together in a few simple steps and BAM you've got yourself one heavily reliable grinder.

I put over 20 hours on this grinder in two months since I've had it and I'm in love!

MAN TIP: This is a grinder - bolt it down to something SOLID!!!

If you're concerned about the 1/6 hp - I want to know what you are grinding!

It shapes everything from wood to thick steel with NO PROBLEMS!

If you cant grind it, then you are probably using the wrong wheel or the wrong tool.

If you need a grinder, buy this one! It's cheaper than dirt and will grind! You can buy the...

I was looking for a small to midsized grinder for sharpening the lawn mower blade and doing odd grinding jobs that I encounter during projects on the house. This grinder is built well enough and has enough power for what I need. There is a little vibration and the guards are a bit cheap, but the price was right. Overall, I would recommend it to the average DYIer like me.

After shopping around for  bench grinder, I finally settled on the Craftsman 6in bench grinder. I was impressed with the power, especially since other reviews stated that it was under powered. For the homeowner doing projects around the house, this grinder will certainly complete the task. The only problem (as with all powerful grinders) is the vibrations. The vibrations are so harsh that it moves my workbench that I bolted it down to. It would have been nice if they designed it with some sort of vibration dampener, maybe a thick rubber base. Vibrations go hand in hand with power, and this has...

This is a great small home project grinder. It is quiet and smooth.  I only wish it came with a wire brush wheel.

I like this grinder because I am able to bolt it on to my workbench and use it for small jobs. When I am finished I can unbolt it and put it back on the shelf and not have to worry about it. You need to realize that buying this means you need a sturdy workbench to bolt it on to or buy the stand and bolt it to the ground. No matter how they build it, its going to dance around a workbench unless its bolted down. 1/3 hp motor is strong enough if used correctly, for almost any job dont force the item or you will bog it down or worse it will get sucked into the grinding wheel. I watched someone use...

I got a great price through a sale to craftsman club members.

I moounted this to a stand I had in my garage and bought this to keep lawn mower blades sharp.

When I took my blades to this grinder to sharpen for the fall leave mulching ritual, I was surprised there was no slow down or strain on the motor. Other cheap grinders I have purchased in the past could not keep up the rpms  to grind lawn mower blades.

I am very pleased with this Grinder adn would recomend for lite home maintenance projects.

Only Craftsman in our house

I wanted to get this grinder for my husband for Christmas and then our Jan. anniversary but had to wait for it to become available. We have bought craftsman tools for work and the home for 38 plus years and have never had one problem with any piece. So when it comes in tools, and appliances it is Sears always and Craftsman. My husband is very happy with this grinder and especially likes the light.

This Grinder does wonderfully for all my shop and home jobs.  Great grinder for a great price.  My only wish is that I went for the model with the larger motor.  Sometimes with big jobs it bogs down.

This grinder does a great job. I've polish and grind with it quite often. I do sheetmetal work quite often and this does very well.

Decent overall, but somewhat annoying

This is a decent little bench grinder overall. There a few small things I don't like about it though: 1. The small plastic tray on the front should be mounted with a screw or something, it constantly rattles while using the grinder. That gets old after a little while. 2. I have this mounted on the craftsman stand and all it does is walk around the garage floor all the time. You need to bolt this down to the floor if you want to really do anything with it. I used the grinding wheel and the wire wheel extensively and both worked great. I now have a buffing wheel mounted on and that works great as... read full review »

Solid grinder

We've used this grinder for a while, at one point sharpening a tad over 300 lawnmower blades over two days (most of which in one day) with it and it performed flawlessly.

I have had my older version of this unit for 4 years and the starting capacitor has just gone out. As far as the performance of the unit, it has handled anything that I have needed from small household duties to heavier needs when rebuilding my motor home engine arose needing items ground or polished with the wire brush that I added. The only issue that I have is that sears is so hard to get customer service from when you need parts and do not want to pay them to do the service.

Excellent product

Well-built product. I was little skeptical with 1/3hp, but after first use it was plenty of power for all my around the home needs. The light arm can be stiffer, vibration from motor tends to move out of place(not a big deal I have plenty of light in my garage). I also converted one side with a 6 in. buffing pad by taking off the wheel covers. Works like a charm (saved myself $99 for a buffer). I can see that the power can be underpowered for serious buffing or grinding needs, but for the price and general hobby use, it is perfect. My overall rating stand at "4" just becasue I just don not know... read full review »
