Great Mower

I have a 1/3 acre lot and have been mowing with a non-self-propelled 21" push mower. It's actually fun to mow the lawn now! I opted for this mower over a rider because I like the zero turn capability, and I still wanted the exercise. I like the hour meter so I can gauge when to change the oil, and do... read full review »

Fair+ overall

I have owned this mower for 75 days and am planning on returning before the 90 days policy expires. (and I hate that is my plan) I actually like this mower overall because of the value (I paid about $840 out the door on an absolute steal from my local sears and several neighbors thought I was styling).... read full review »

Enjoy

Great Mower! I have owned the mower for about a year now and have great fun mowing my large yard with it. I read all the reviews and I haven't experienced any of the problems they talked about. It is all in how you use the mower. If you know how to use this type of mower mulching, the controls, bag discharge, etc. are not problems. Yes, improvements can be made but that is true with any piece of equipment. For the price you can't beat it.

This Mower Will Save You Time

I purchased this mower to save time and it has exceeded my expectations. I also read every review (60 at the time). They were of great value to me thus, I wanted to contribute back. The major benefit is significant time saving. With my old 21 inch mower our property took about 3 hours to mow. I am able to complete the job now in one hour. There are three major reasons for this: 1. The 33 inch deck. This deck seems TWICE as wide as the 21 (probably because less passes means less overlaps from the previous row). 2. The mower has a lot of horsepower. It is very fast in speed number four (almost like... read full review »

Got St. Augustine? Get this mower.

I got this mower specifically for my big St. Augustine grass lawn. If you have this type of grass you know that it can grow 1/2 an inch a day when it's hot out and it's otherwise happy and healthy. Couple that with the slope on the property and you can see I was getting quite a workout twice a week with my old 6.75 h.p. self-propelled mower. Not only does this one do a great job of cutting and mulching thick St. Aug. grass, it's propulsion moves it up and down my slope effortlessly. My 2-hour mowing job has been cut to 45 minutes and I just barely break a sweat. The only thing I'm going to do to... read full review »

No for a mowing business

i do not recommend this mower for anyone with a mowing business. I have 10 lawns and it is slow and doesn't cut like a professional. I switched to a Walker MW and i love the walker. i had the craftsman for one year and didn't like it. another bad thing is you can't put a stand-on on the mower. If you have a home lawn your planing on using it for then buy the mower but if not don't.

Mountain Mauler

I bought my 1st home in the N. Virginia Mtns almost 2 years ago. I was paying $150. per cut, as we have 1 acre of very steep cleared terrain. This expense only allowed 1 cut per month! This season, I picked up the Craftsman 10.5 walk(run) behind and it was well worth it. It has a simple lever for changing the cutting height, a brawny Briggs engine and easy to operate handle controls. On the front yard, I go down my hill in 1st gear. This holds the mower back and allows me to cut at a walking pace safely. I work across and then up in 3rd gear, as the mower defeats the mountain-cutting all in its... read full review »

great mower, only things I don't like are the two levers on the handle, they are in the wrong place and it doesn't mulch as good as I thought it would. But I'll keep it

Finally new mulching blades

On 5/10/07 I purchased a 33" widecut mower from sears. This unit is sold under the cub cadet name at home depot. Mtd owns cub cadet. I currently still own a troy-bilt 33" widecut mower. Mtd bought troy-bilt and redesigned the unit which is the one I bought from Sears. The problem I have had with the unit is that its mulching performance is unacceptable. It is leaving rows of mulch on every pass about a half inch high throughout the lawn. It is so noticeable that you have to rake it up. This same problem has been posted all over the Sears web site under reviews. Well it looks like Mtd finally redesigned... read full review »

I returned the mower to Sears

My lawn is too small and too irregular for this mower. At higher speeds, (3 or 4) the mower is very difficult to turn. It was a real workout to try and turn the mower around obstructions and to reverse direction. Overall, the performance was poor. The mower did not mulch. It left swaths of unmowed grass, especially when the path of the mower curved around the landscaping. My lawn looked terrible, with lines of uncut grass and lines of unmulched grass clippings. If you have a large lawn, with long straight unobstructed paths for the mower, this mower might be good for you. I wanted to be able to... read full review »

Just purchased

Most ackward piece of equiptment I have ever used, really need to take this design back to the drawing board.Controls are located in wrong position.Hoping gets better with each usage. Not good on bank at all. Needs more weight on front end, front end raises everytime you release control linkage. Does not mulch well at all and the grass is dry.Still learning

Cuts well with minor issues - worth the money

First I'd like to clarify the weight of the mower. It can't possibly be 240 pounds. That must be the weight when it is crated up for shipping. I (I'm 5'11" 175lbs) can lift the back end up and move it by hand though it is heavier than a regular mower (probably about 175 lbs.) (note: don't lift it while it's running) It does cut the grass very well though the blades don't seem to be very sharp from the factory. The engine is very nice and really does start on a half pull. The engine alone is worth almost the price of this machine. The transmission is stamped Peerless Tecumseh and the only complaint... read full review »

This power mower poor quality

Ok, I used this mower twice. The third time I used it, I noticed it pulling right. I found the front tires were very tight, so I was able to remove the wheels and clean up the shaft and regrease them. They worked for two more mows. Then I bought a catcher for it, well the catcher does not fit and fills up too fast, which means it is undersized. it holds about 8 gals. Why would you make such a small bag for such a large two blade mower. It is easier to rake up the clippings!! I am going to return this hunk of junk.
