When i saw this saw i thought that it looked very good. I was using it to frame 2x4 walls and it did a great job cutting the wood. But i found that when i need to miter an angle that it is very difficult and sometimes impossible to do. Instead of the saw moving the bottom moves and so you have to basically mover the whole thing instead of just the blade to cut angles. The anglers are hard to move around even. Most of the time i just hold the board at what angle i think i need instead of using the anglers. I just found it to be very hard to cut anything but straight. It might be ok if you were...
read full review »I was excited when I first read a review of this saw in Wood magazine. I had a cheaper 8" mitre saw that wasn't very accurate and looked forward to creating tighter joints in my projects. This saw has plenty of power so far for what I do, the laser marker is helpful once you learn what side of the line the saw cuts to.
Out of the box the saw is off a degree or two. My first few corners have been off a bit so I'll have to take some time and fine tune it. One down side that I didn't consider when purchasing is that with the work pieces moving to make the mitre cuts, you need a bit more room...
read full review »This is a unique mitre saw. Instead of the blade moving, the guides move to the angles required. Also, the handy tool that measures the precise angle that you need for the cuts really helps. You take one measurement, then you have the left and the right angles ready to go with the saw blade never moving, only the fences. The blade does do angle cuts, but always stays perpendicular to the base. I like it better than the old type saws and its easier to use.
great saw angle finder takes guess work out of trying to find what angle you are at
This is a great tool for handling difficult moldings cuts. Use the special tool that comes with the saw to obtain the inside or outside angles. Then set the moveable sides to set the angle and you can quickly cut both sides of either an inside or outside cut. Also the cuts are more precise and true, so no extra time trying to true up the cut.
Highly recommend this tool!
I recently use this saw with a good friend on installing chair rail. The saw was very accurate on all of our mitre cuts (inside and outside corners) since none of his wall were not on a true 90 degrees. All of the extensions, laser and fence worked up to our expectation. The only down side was when we had to cut long pieces of wood, had to come up with a creative way to support the material, we had an large empty garage and extra saw horses which helped, but other than that i would recommend this product to anyone who is putting up any kind of trim.
This is a great saw for the plain fact that it goes beyond the basic miter saw. Saws for decades have done the same straight cuts, bevel cuts, etc with the wings at 180 degrees. This saw breaks the mold by having completely adjustable wings for cutting trim. Before this saw you'd have to measure it out exactly, hope it fit correctly in a corner you assumed was 90 degrees, and if there was a mistake just caulk it in. With this saw, just use the angle finder on your corner (inside AND outside corners), transfer the angle to the saw, and make a perfect cut. Saves us non-pros time, money,...
read full review »I had been wanting to do crown moulding but each time I looked into it....I just seemed to get more confused how to flip the boards how to measure the angles etc. When I saw this miter saw go on sale I figured it was worth a shot. Well over 3 weeknds I completed 3 rooms with many tight corners and small cuts. Overall I am pretty happy with it, as other's have stated the issue would be the base doesn't move around like other saws you see on the market. Because of that you can't really purchase a miter saw stand for this saw. I found the best way to use it was on my garage floor moving...

poor design, fence moves instead of saw. each time you change the miter angle the workpiece or the entire saw must be moved. vewy awkward when working indoors with large pieces such as basecoards and crown moulding. i returned the this saw and bought a 10' slider instead for less.
I cannot believe some one has returned this saw. My trim has perfect joints (I mean perfect!!) and this is the best miter tool I have ever used. So much faster than getting out the beveled angles and custom agles. It is built really well and if some one returns it because it dosent work supposedly work well... than maybe they should just stay away from diy stuff altogether. It is not rocket science.
