Overall Good Saw, Bad For Crown Moulding

I've owned this saw for about 2 years. Out of the box it was nice and calibrated and laser guide was perfectly aligned. I've used it on may different projects. Works well and produces accurate cuts for building projects (miters 2x4's good and other smaller lumber). Has plenty of power for this and cuts... read full review »

You get what you pay for.

I bought this miter saw thinking it was a great value for the $99 sale price; however the quality matched exactly what I paid. The saw was easy to use "right out of the box"; however, while I was cutting the SECOND piece of laminate flooring, the laser guide just stops working. Due to the fact that... read full review »

Craftsman 10 in. 15A Compound Miter Saw with... Reviews

Displaying reviews 1 - 15 of 73 in total

Many years ago my brother and I started a business trimming houses and went to Sears for the tools to get started. We bought this 10 inch mitre saw, a 10 inch arm saw, a compressor and guns, and a router among others.

You must have a plan for what you will be doing to know which sized saw you need. The 10 inch mitre is a good entry level saw which is priced right, is accurate, has a superior warranty and is well built. For most DIY homeowners it is plenty and will do most of what an arm saw will do but is much easier to transport and set up on remote sites. The arm saw is better for repeat cuts...

a good saw for the price

The 10" 15 amp miter saw is a great saw especially when you consider the price ($89.99 on sale).  The 10" blade will limit what you can cut to 2x4 or smaller.  If you are cutting long stock I recommend making your own extended fence for it.  The laser is battery powered (which is weird) so don't forget to turn it off when done.  Make sure you adjust the with a square before using (mine was off quite a bit).

It paid for itself on a recent crown molding job.  I find myself using it a lot instead of my circular saw.  It's much easier and safer.  All around this is a great tool to have.

This saw cuts straight and true.  Laser is right on.  Dust collection works as well as any miter saw will.  Takes Sears small shop vac hose.  I found a nice slow steady cut works great and is right on the money for both 90 and 45 degree cuts.

Buy it

Good value.  It has side extensions to assist with longer cuts and a nice portable stand.  The blade is good quality.  My pops has a different Craftsman miter which did not come with a stand.  I have used both and each are solid tools.  This one was a touch more costly as it can handle larger cuts and has the stand.  I guess it comes down to your need.

The dust bag fills quickly so it requires you to either empty often or have more clean-up.  Worse things could happen.

I have played around with the laser a bit and can't seem to get it accurate.  But, I don't use the laser much anyway...

Picked this saaw up on sale for a DIY project. I have to say I was pretty impressed. Reading reviews about the Laser Trac system, I wasn't sure how well it was going to work. When I actually used the saw, I found it really didn't matter anyway. I found that I reverted back to the old way and lined the cut mark that I had penciled on the wood up with the saw blade and cut it by eye ! You know, the same way we have been doing it for years !    The saw works great and has plenty of power for home projects. If I was a contractor I would certainly want something bigger, but for the occasional project...

Excellent

I purchased this for my husband.  He has really enjoyed using this product.  Would highly recommended this product.  Great price for a great item.

The Price is Right.

I removed the saw from the box, read the instructions, set the saw up using a square and practice board. It was pretty dead on. Love how the blade wrench fits right into the handle. I use it to cut up small stock for pens and mechanical pencils. I am a beginner with miter saws so I really don't have that much experience using miter saws to compare it with. It has plastic safety guard, I can tell this will be the first thing to break. However, I looked at other brands in this 100.00 price range and they all have plastic guards. After I get more experience, I will try one of the more expensive Craftsman... read full review »

Great Saw

I purchased this saw a couple of years ago. I have used and abused it. It still works like it came out of the box. The quality is fantastic for the price. This is a true Craftsman. Tested, reliable, and always works. Definitely a thumbs up to Sears.

I have had this saw for about 3 years and it still works great. A great saw for a good price.

Didn't last long

Worked great for a few times, then the motor seized up. Third Craftsman brand tool I've had that stopped working after only limited use. Don't buy unless you get the extended warranty. You'll need it.

Better than expected

I bought this miter saw using the pick-up option, which was very slick - took less than 5 minutes, they even loaded it in my truck. I checked the saw setup, and was surprised to see everything was spot-on out of the box. Have mostly cut 4x4 and 2x4 framing and supports for a passive solar porch and it's been flawless. The 40-tooth carbide blade that comes with it makes nice clean cuts. Angle settings are accurate. I can see I'll be using this tool a lot more than I thought!

Stop reading the reviews and buy it....

I bought this saw about a year ago. It has worked great from day one. I have built several large decks and a 24x30 garage including trusses with this saw. The laser really saves a lot of time when you have all your boards marked and ready to cut. Even with the cheap blade that comes with the saw, the motor has plenty of power to handle anything you throw at it. As long as you don't use the miter handle to carry the saw, you should have no problems. I would only use this saw for mostly framing work. Afterall, it's an $80 saw. It would probably work fine for someone wanting to save a little money... read full review »
