Craftsman 10 in. Compound Miter Saw with Laser Trac —
While overall, I am happy with the saw, I found that after several uses, the laser no longer aligned with the edge of the blade. The cut was actually to the right of the laser line by about 1/8". Although the manual says that the laser is not user adjustable, figured out how to do it. If you remove the guard, you gain access to the adjustment screws, which can be turned to adjust both the side to side position and also pivot the laser so it is square. However, I found that the slightest touch is enough to knock it out of line. It would be better if the mounting were more solid, so that the beam would stay calibrated better. Also, I agree with other reviewers that the beam is dim and can be hard to see in bright light. I will continue to use the laser for lining up cuts, but am now aware the it has to be checked for alignment periodically. Of course, if worse comes to worse, I can always line up the cut the old fashioned way, by bringing the blade down to the wood and previewing the cut line that way.
