After much research, I had bought the Craftsman model 21807 the previous month. Very effective while it worked, but it was very unsafe, and the direct-drive motor siezed up after 1 week of use. Got a full refund from Sears. Craftsman is my brand and the brand of both my grandfathers but these days,...

Most HelpfulI must say this is the second time I put this particular model saw together. Dispite very poor pictureless instructions that are in no way indicative of the Craftsman name it went very well.
However, this time around another friend purchased the same saw, it has been nothing short on a nightmare...
read full review »First this saw is heavy. I used my motor puller to unload it but if you are doing it by hand have lots of hands. The manual is some help but needs better pics. All parts except some nuts were there, had to use some on hand. It goes together good but ensure all nessary parts are installed b4 you turn it right side up. Front and rear slides could have a better mounting system as them and the wings are dependent on each other for rigidity, I like the rip fence. The motor is quiet and powerful and drives a spindle and should last a long time. Everything is adjustable for correctness of alignment...
read full review »Picked this saw up a couple months ago and have been very pleased. I wanted something belt-driven with a cast iron work surface, a good fence system, casters for mobility, and a price tag less than $500. I ended up paying a little over $500 (after taxes) with my Craftsman Club discount....shopped around forever between other brands and other Craftsman saws. Very happy with my choice.
Been running mostly red oak through it on a coffee table project and even with the stock blade, no issues at all. Setup was fairly straight-forward, although a few of the bolts that hold the fence rails to...
read full review »Well, finally got to do some work with this. First off, get a good long set of metric allen wrenches, you will need them. The wheeled base is the best, easy to move, size is just right, powerful and quiet motor. The wings are well stamped metal, but hard to install and align. The cross braces/ fence track is poor. While it is aluminum, the main solid steel table has 2 bold holes an the nut head go in a segment down the track. This make is all hard to alright, plus it is two peaces, I am still trying to make mine act as one. These hold the wight of the wings and are used to align them....
read full review »I got this saw last Saturdays. My son-in-law and I put it together in about four hours. Took my other son-in-las and grandson to get it into shop. Instructions for set up are good but not great. Still if you take your time and have a son-in-law who reads them instead of just starting in, the saw comes together well. All parts were there even the smallest washer and nut. Have not been able to make saw dust yet, but what I have done it is far better machine than my small bench top for clean cuts and fine adjustments. Added a couple of stabilizer's to the blade and they work fine. ...

This is a great tool... once you manage to assemble it correctly. Unfortunately the assembly instructions that come with this table saw are a real challenge and a disgrace. The Craftsman corporation should be ashamed for printing a document which, in my opinion, is an insult to the English language. The owner's manual that comes with this table saw is poorly organized and difficult to comprehend, and does not include any photographs to help you see how the saw should look like once you have finished putting it together. To be able to assembly my table saw correctly, I had to search...

I will agree with what the previous poster said. Especially about the caster set as my shop floor isn't the smoothest and my shop isn't very big so mobility is a must. This was an important factor when choosing a saw. This rolls around very easy.
What also is nice compared to most contrator saws is the motor doesn't hang out the back. I would consider this a hybrid saw for that feature.
The only bad this I could say it that the miter gauge sweaks sliding on the table a little, but that's a cheap fix.
For...

First, I paid just a little over 400 dollars for it.... well under the price tag of other comparable saws.
Second, it has an adjustable riving knife as well as removable blade-guards and anti-kickback blades.
Third, this is a solid, well-built saw with some great features. The caster wheel sets are simply designed, but...
read full review »Purchased the saw about 1.5wks ago. I'm a newbie/wanna be woodworker coming froma 59.99 "toy" benchtop model.
As others have stated..manual is certainly not a "instruction" manual..more like a rough guide. The suggestions in the other reviews here have been helpful. My suggestion...read it about 3 times, unpack and become familiar with the parts, read thru a couple more times and jot down your own overall plan. I'm only about 1/3 assembled now.
Mine came with 2 separate sheets. The one showing the "caster set", I believe shows an incorrectly assembled caster set. Instructions say...
read full review »The saw was very heavy to unload from my SUV, but some creative use of my gardenway cart and I got it off onto the garage floor without any heavy lifting (I'm 67 with a bad back also!). The assembly of the base required a trip back to the store as the added picture and instruction sheet is clearly wrong. Not showing the cam lift in the closed position before mounting the casters is the problem. Tipping the saw back upright was done using a car floor jack and some wooden blocks to get it up to about waist high, then tipping, with my wife, to upright. Now the problems: The trunnions were...

I had very specific specs in mind for a new home table saw; this one met them. Took advantage of an excellent Black Friday sales event and bought it for a great price. Assembly was tougher than need be because of the lousy manual.
Hints for a new buyer include: Align the blade to the table before assembling the rest of the saw. Do not attempt that alignment with the blade or alignment plate fully extended; back it off a quarter turn. The trunions do not allow much adjustment. Do not put the back on when instructed; wait until assembly is complete. Take your time and have some help with...
read full review »I just picked up this saw today, and am in thy assembly process now. I just wanted to give a quick first impression, and I will follow, up with a performance report after using it for a while.
First I just wish to make it clear that I am, in no way, a professional woodworker and this view is given from someone that has only owned the cheaper, DIY home duty saws over the years, and finally, after about thirty years of hobby woodworking, decided it was time I deserved a better quality of tool.
My first impression is that this is one Heavy saw. I read this as much more stable and safer to use....
read full review »Great saw, the table is flat and level, the base is sturdy and well designed. The mobile base makes moving it around my 2 car garage shop easy. The 2 piece blade guard is very user friendly. I like the zero clearance insert, the powerful earth magnets make it easy to take on and off for blade changes, as does the arbor lock. IT is a lot of saw for the money, there are accessory holders and clips making it a self contained unit. MY only complaint is the instructions for assembly are awful, the pictures are unclear and at the opposite end of the book from the written directions. I own several ridgid...
read full review »Had to take trunnion to machine shop and slot bolt holes in order to align blade with slots. Rip fence will not align with blade. Ordered adjusting plates for rip fence and they have been on order for 3 weeks and still can not get a delivery date. Get a different date every time I call. Face of the miter gage is not flat. This saw looks very well built until you start to do the alignment. It was built in China. Spend an extra couple of hundred dollars and get a good saw or spend couple of hundred dollars less and get a saw.
