I bought the Craftsman Circular Saw today after my 20+ year old Craftsman died this morning. I use a circular saw to rough cut large panel plywood to the approximate sizes required for my furniture construction projects.
After getting the saw home, I measured various blade angles, plate flatness, depth rule accuracy and found only 1 small problem. The laser is a little bit out of alignment in relationship to the blade and the "0" indicator on the plate; I measure it at +.3° in relationship to the blade flat against a straight edge. Anyway, I always use a straight edge jib and not the...
read full review »I received this saw as a Christmas gift and I love it! It cuts great on any kind of wood, and the laser/LED work perfectly. It also adjusts very easily with the levers. I do not use the red goggles that come with but i am sure the help with seeing the laser. Overall I have no complaints.
I have had a Craftsman circular saw in the past and used it to build an addition to my previous house, cutting everything from studs to concrete blocks. That earlier model was a little cumbersome changing cutting depths. You had to loosen and tighten a wing nut. Well, I wore that one out after several years.
I started another building project recently and decided it was time to get another one. The Laser Trac with an LED light is just so much more advanced than my earlier versions of this saw. A nice surprise was how easy it is to change cutting depths, a lever clamps the cutting depth...
read full review »This circular saw is powerful and tears through jobs easy. It is on the heavy side. The laser is only useful in lower light applications. The blade is easy to change. The bar on the top of the saw gives the operator great control.
My husband and I went to Sears to browse as he put it in the tool dept. I know browsing means he is definatly buying a new tool. He owns alot of Craftsman tools because they are dependable and reliable.
He bought this Craftman 7 1/4 Circular Saw w/ Laser Trac. I asked him what that was, he said he does not use the laser trac. He is from the old school, I have watched him for years with is cutting and it amazes me how absolutly straight he cuts, he will measure and draw his line and cut. When I asked him why they put the laser trac on these Craftsman Saws, he told me they are great for the homeowner...
read full review »I recently got to test this tool out and I am definitely adding this saw to my collection. I like the feel and the control. I tend to use a clamping straight edge so the laser trac wasn't necessary for me, but I can tell that it'd be helpful for others tackling DIY projects around the house. I also like the beveling and it does hold it's edge pretty good but you just have to remember to tighten it up in between every other cut or so. Heck, you have to do that with the high edge consumer grade circular saws as well.
This is a good, affordable saw and I can't wait to get one of my own.
I bought this saw for my husband and he loves it! I have even used it myself. The laser and light are very helpful. The best part is the price was perfect and the best deal i could find in any store! I would reccommend this product to everyone.
This was a great saw. If your looking to buy a circular saw buy this one. I use it for everything cabinet work and even hard capentry work. I've had it for three years never had a problem. Great power the laser does not help much but the light does.
My dad has one of these circular saws and he likes it alot. He is a good judge of this type of tools. Also the price is very inexpensive.
The laser really does help with long straight cuts. The saw is alittle heavier than my old craftsman, but has a good handle design and works just fine. My old craftsman saw, same size, lasted over 25 years, I think this one will too.
