Used it twice so far. It works well and I have no complaints at all. It was easy to assemble and is easy to store. I guess I have been lucky with Sears/Craftsman products. I own/owned several Sears/craftsman products(washer, dryer, refrigerator, Lawnmower,Electric hedge trimmer, cordless screwdriver, Auto battery charger, snow thrower several tools etc) and so far had no problems or complaints at all. I am very satisfied with Sears/craftsman products.
Tim.
Bought the edger and it makes a huge difference on our lawn. Just a couple minutes to do now that I'm doing it regularly. It has all the power I need to make a big difference for my curb appeal.
Worked great in the 5 times I used it this year on my 20' driveway. Now it starts for about 10 seconds then quits. After waiting for 20 mins or so it will do the same thing. Blade shows no wear and it's set at the 1" depth so it's not overheating. No idea what the problem is, the edger it's trying to imitate lasted me 5 years so you do the math. Not even worth the "Craftsman" sticker on the side.
Craftsmen Edger is light weight, easy to use and cuts great. Very good cutting blade
Edger was easy to assemble and edges as good as the most expensive edgers. Easy and safe to store.
I am really satisfied with my choice.
It works well, particularly when the soil is dry. It tended to get clogged up easily when the soil was damp. Easy to assemble.
Purchased at the store on sale for $90. Easy set up and seems to have a good strong motor. I have only used it once, but so far it seems like a pretty good buy.
The Good:
It worked, not great power, but the blade is like a saw, and cuts great [while it worked].
The Bad:
Used this 4 times, the motor stopped 3/4 of the way around my sidewalk. I was careful not to tax the motor much, and it's still stopped. So basically cost $20.00 per edging for my sidewalk.
The edger does the job but is a chore in itself to operate. It is surprisingly heavy and hard to manuever. The edger cutter casing is a little too large to see where the cutter is actually going to cut and to maintain a straight line. Price was not great, but is reasonable for what you get.
I purchased this edger last summer (2008) and it worked all summer. When I got it out to use it this summer, it worked for 15 minutes and then quit. I thought Craftsman was suppose to be a very good product. I am really disappointed in this product and wasted my money buying it.
Stay clear of this one! Bought a similar with the extended warranty and it was replaced with this model. Now it is out of warranty and doesn't work. Sears didn't even stock replacement blades. Had to order online and pay shipping. Now i have two extra replacement blades with an edger that doesn't work anymore! Great buy for them, NOT ME. Going to try ********** for my next edger. Won't buy from Sears again!
This unit is a few seasons old but the motor started over heating and than the plastic switch broke. I checked parts online and the SPDT switch was not listed. I went into the chat and requested the switch with safety mech and they could not provide me with a part number or do I think they even know what I was talking about. Since they ask about my shop vac(not the edger). So I guess if I had to choose I would choose the edger over the tech support.
