I just purchased this compressor and I'm very please with the craftsmanship. Being that it's an oil lubricated compressor is a real plus. I had a oil free and it did not hold up.
Haven't used the compressor much but it works great. the only problem was the oil fill cap was broke when I removed it from the box. It wasn't bad just had to cut it a little shorter, there was still enough threads on it to screw on. I could have taken it back but didn't think it was worth it.
Easy to set up. Just attach the screw-on air filter and add oil. Everything functioned on the first try. I did have to tighten the bottom condensation drain because it leaked air. When viewing the oil level in the sight glass after running it for 10 minutes I noticed the oil was black. I went to Sears the next day to purchase new oil. I was surprised to find the Sears compressor oil was standard 4 cycle engine 20W, high detergent motor oil. The owners manual says to use 30W, low detergent motor oil. I suspect the reason the oil turned black on me is high detergent oil suspends all...
read full review »I agree with the previous post. This compressor worked fine during the warranty period, but after that the pressure will not increase above 25psi, no leaks, this is a pump/compressor issue. Maybe used once a month, so 12-14 times to inflate ATV tires. Craftsman is not the Craftsman that it used to be. Period. Thanks for the disposable products, not just this product line but it appears to be across the board for Craftsman.
This compressor works well. It's a good compressor for those of us that are DIYers. It helps you get the job done. I use it to inflate my cars' tires, I use it for my hobbies and blowing the insides of all of my electronics. I sometimes use my compressor to clean out the dust from the computers I'm fixing at home. The Craftsman air compressor is a versatile tool to have around the home. I would recommend it to anyone who can afford one. The only thing I would change about my compressor is the motor, I would like to see it with an oilless motor. I would also like to for it to be less noisy.
Great...
read full review »I had this compressor for around a month. I used to mainly to blow out motorcycle parts and used an impact wrench a couple of times. It stayed in my garage and I took care of it per the instructions. After a month, the motor began sputter and cut out randomly. I kept it long enough to finish my rebuild on my bike and promptly gave sears their garbage back. We'll see if this review lets me give it zero stars. Are these made in China, too, next to my daughter's Barbie dolls?
I bought this compressor mainly for blowing dust out of computers and other electronics. It's okay for this function but I don't think it could handle any air tools. It takes about 10 minutes for it to fill from completely empty and its recovery time is approximately 90 seconds (if your not using any air at the time). (Turns on at about 85psi and shuts off around 110psi) If you are drawing any air during recovery, the pump cannot keep up.
It's loud. Not as loud as a diaphragm compressor, but it's not quiet like the tag in the store suggests. You cannot have a converstaion next to it while...
read full review »I have a compressor that my Father bought WAYYYY back in 1965. It is a Craftsman with a 3/4 HP motor and a 15 gallon tank if I am not mistaken. I have used it to Paint cars, use air tools, Sandblast..a miriad of uses..and it never once gave out on me..still runs great. I bought this one due to the Quality of the old one. I figured I could use a new compressor in the Garage just in case the old one ever dies. I have used this new one for about 8 hours total time now and have no problems other than the pressure regulator went a bit crazy. It seemed to drop down in PSI with every use last...
read full review »I have the Craftsman compressor #912.166400, I HP, 125 psi, 12 gal model. I have owned it for less than 2 years and have only used it sproatically, mainly for filling tires on the cars and blowing out the sprinkling system. Recently I purchased a pneumatic nail gun and while using this tool the compressor stopped charging up to 100 psi but only went to 60 psi and stayed there. I have released all of the pressure and turned it back on after making sure the oil level was set to spec and the pressure now only goes to 25 psi. I have on clue as to what the problem is but from reading a few other reviews...
