“My first planer”
Craftsman 12 amp 12-1/2" Bench Planer (21758) —
This is my first planer and I bought this as a "getting started" unit. It was easy to set up and I was planing wood in under an hour. I bolt it to a WorkMate it's very stable. I do get snipe in the first couple of inches. Some of this may be technique. I'm still working on it. I've used it to plane 1" lyptus and it worked great. It will bog down if I try to cut more than 1/32" at a time but it works fine otherwise. I have had it hang up wood and stop feeding. I found that waxing the base plate and keeping the feed rollers clean helps a lot. This baby is loud so wear your ear protection and have plenty of bags for your shop vac. The amount of saw dust is astounding. Blade change is very easy. Blades are reversible so you get a good bit of wear out of a set of blades.Craftsman 12 amp 12-1/2" Bench Planer (21758)
