The Craftsman Wet/Dry Vac has been an absolute work horse for us. It has sucked better than any other vacuum that we have ever owned. The work it has done for us cannot compare to any other. It has been that good. As soon as you turn it on you can hear and feel the power in the Vac. The multiple accessories...

Craftsman is a good brand, I would recommend the shop vac with 2-1/8" hose. The 1-7/8" hose is a very odd size with attachment limitations. I returned this vac and paid $10 more for the 17769 which comes with more attachments/longer electrical cord/and the 2-1/8" hose-which has many options for attachments.... read full review »

Craftsman 12-gal 5.0 peak hp Wet/Dry Vac Reviews

This Wet/Dry Vac is AWESOME! I use a 16 gal model at work and love it, because of the deep canister and manoeuvrability. So when I went to purchase one I was set on a 16 Gal but the price set me back a little. My wife suggested this smaller one and I was a bit standoffish but after getting it home and using it for the first time this VAC is a workhorse! I cleaned up everything from sawdust to mulch to plastic shopping bags, Yes I said PLASTIC SHOPPING BAGS! Even after picking all of this stuff up it still had amazing suction!

The filter is so easy to remove and replace. This model doesn't have...

Out of the box and right to work. No problems. Easy to maneuver, and being low to the ground , doesn't tip like my old one did. The large on-off red button is a nice feature, no more hunting for a little switch. Good power and suction, I do a lot of woodcutting, and it has no problem picking up all the little pieces. If it fits in the hose, it's in the vac. I also like the locking feature of the hose to the vac, haven't pulled it out yet, and I drag it around quite a bit. I guess the only nitpicking I could do is to wish the power cord was more flexible, but this is a minor point considering how... read full review »

Be sure to note the hose is 1-7/8".  There are very few attachments that will fit this size and there is no adapter either. so unless this vac will do all you need for now and the future spend the extra $10 for the one with the 2-1/2" hose. I Can't say how well it works i took it back for the other one and it works great.

I've been using this Craftsman 12-gal Wet/Dry vac for about five years now for soley garage, yard work, and general cleaning around the house. It's been through some pretty nasty cleanups and it hasn't let me down yet. It's extremely powerful, doesn't clog like other brands due to it's large diameter hose and is pretty quiet (for a vacuum). It has a great design being low to the ground, decent casters and light; it can easily be picked up and stored. The on-board storage is decent, however storing the hose on the vacuum itself is lacking, but that is a minor nitpick about an overall excellent wet/dry...

Love It

I bought an older home and this vac just loves the horsehair plaster I am taking out. I just have to make sure that the blower end is not pointed any plaster dust when I start my clean up. Having the 2 1/2 in. dia. hose makes it perfect for the job. The way the wheels are set on the tank portion I do not have to worry about it tipping over. I have only had the hose pop off once when I was moving it from room to room.

Kenmore shop vac

One of the best shop vacs on the market very good suction

I bought this vac to replace an older, smaller Craftsman that was breaking down, and was also too loud and shrill.  I needed a large hose for the kind of stuff I pick up, and this was the smallest Craftsman with the larger diam. hose.  I've been using it in my professional handyman business for a couple of months now. Here's my take:

What I like:

  • It's not annoyingly loud. And the pitch isn't as shrill as my old one. I no longer have to wear hearing protection while vaccuuming.
  • It's very powerful.
  • Stable when rolling around. I used to tip over my old one when tugging on the hose.
  • Nice long...

This vacuum provides excellent value for the money in my experience. It is much quieter than I expected, rolls very smoothly and the attachments are extremely easy to find and use. The 12 gallon is a really nice size for us and doesn't take up much space in the garage. My father has the 16 gallon and loves it too... don't waste your money on Shop Vac or others, trust me - this is the one you want!

Best price/performance

For the price, this was the best deal.  It is something that both I can use in the garage and workshop, and my wife can use for the heavier jobs around the house.

We owned one of these in the past, but cracked the bottom of it dropping it into a icy snowbank.  This new one is redesigned and looks much sturdier and made of a less brittle plastic.

Does not filter properly!

I work in construction and I am very disappointed with this product. At first glance the power is good and with a nice small convenient size, how ever from the first job I found that ass I vacuumed the room would fill with a fine dust. It took me a while but I have found the reason why. When you look at the filter each pleat that is folded outside the molded rubber is not sealed.

This results in air and dust going in between the filter pleats and being expelled in what is supposed to be clean air. Why use a vacuum and spend 80 plus dollars when the end result is the same as...

We are happy with our purchase. The salesman needs to be given reward for his patience with us as we asked many questions. He explained things well and If he didn't have the answer he searched for it and found it. I hope this vacuum lasts a longtime. HE WENT ABOVE & BEYOND IN ASSISTING US.

Okay..so I am totally a girly girl, but I got a hold of my husband's Wet/Dry vac and watch out. This machine is amazing. Why can't they make a vacuum cleaner for the house like a Wet/Dry Vac. I swear my husband thinks I love this machine more than him. I use it almost daily for the toughest dirt removal to the milk spill in the kitchen. It can suck up anything on my 15 stairs in the house. Dog hair---not a problem the Wet/Dry Vac can do no wrong. I know my husband uses it in his shop for more heavy duty cleaning up. My kids use it to vacuum out the 3 cars we have and that is no easy task, especially...
