I bought this air compressor because of the Craftsman brand, only to find out that this product is sold under various other brand names. A generic compressor made by one company (in china) and sold under various brand names. This compressor lasted a couple years before it overheated and stopped working. Poor quality. I've lost my respect for the Craftsman reputation. Most, if not all of Sears' Craftsman line are not made in the USA and are of poor quality. Bottom line $
I've had this compressor for 3, possibly 4 or 5 years. Up until yesterday, it worked. Then it audibly slowed down, would only provide 60 psi, and there was a strong smell of overheat.
I took it to Sears Blossom Hill store where I bought it. They have no record of me. And I don't have a receipt --- after 3 to 5 years?
So here's my advice. KEEP YOUR RECEIPT because it's going to break and Sears' policy, is no receipt, tough luck. And BE SURE TO READ WHAT THEY PUT IN THEIR COMPUTER.
I'm screwed out of $64 (plus CA tax).
I have used this compressor for 8-10 years and it has never failed. That is about 6-8 years longer than 12v compressors have lasted in my experience. It is a compressor than will without overheating increase the pressure on 4 tires when it has dropped due to cold weather. Or it can fill a car tire that has gone flat. It will also fill a number of small lower volume tires or an inflatable yard toy or figure. Overheating is not a problem with all of the above functions.
However, this compressor can not run nonstop while inflating 4 automobile tires from a completely deflated state. The...

This compact 120 volt air compressor/inflator is awesome ! Pump up all your favorite toys and exersize balls and all your vehicle tires. This mighty little 'must have' family helper is easy to grab and go and get it done ! Our entire family uses this tool and we are considering purchasing another to carry in whatever car we're on the road with. Very satisfied in rural West Central Ohio.
I had one which was several years old. The air valve in the header on the pump broke. I lost my manual and so I called the partsdirect people. They couldn't even find it by the model number printed on it. The part was a small metal reed which should cost 50 cents, it was worth 50 bucks, but they couldn't find a parts list. They are still selling this unit, but cannot find it in their parts database. Very frustrating. I just threw it in the garbage. I HATE throwing away fixable things, but without that one little part, it is useless.
I bought this a year ago to replace a similar Craftsman inflator that had performed dependably well for over a decade. Pump piston seized-up on it. The unit had inflated hundreds of all size tires, balls and etc. during its life. The NEW replacement worked well for nearly a year. Maybe had inflated a dozen car and bike tires. Just past XMAS week 2009 terrible smoke and oder from unit. Brush holder on motor melted and fried. JUNK!!! Very disappointed in this product.
Had this pump for about a year with very limited use(maybe used it 8 times to top off tires). This week the pump started smoking and a burning smell came from it, then it died. Very disappointed, I bought this pump because of craftsmans reputation but this pump left me very disappointed in craftsman. I wouldnt recommend this pump. I never thought they would put the craftsman name on this piece of junk.
I have had this exact Craftsman 120 volt Air Compressor/Inflator for the better part of 8 years and have not had a single problem with the Air Compressor/Inflator. It is very acuarte as I have always double check the tire/ball psi afterwards. The compressor is also useful to use as a blower for cleaning and I also have had not problems with that. To date, the compression is still the same. I have read the "One (1) Star" reviews and suprisingly, most of them state the product is very good, just poor design, which is not neccesarily a good reason to rate a product so low. A portable air...
read full review »I purchased this item since it is a Craftsman based tool. I expected Craftsman level quality. The compressor worked flawlessly for about a year and then started to rattle a bit more than normal. After a few uses, the compressor quit working. I could hear the motor running, but no air pressure was generated.
I removed the bottom of the case and discovered the same problem other users have reported. The long machine screws that hold the motor to the compressor section has come loose. No locking method is used to prevent the screws from backing out. This is a design flaw in the assembly...
read full review »I bought this compressor approx 15 months ago, based on Craftsman reputation. Light usage- "airing up" SUV tires from 18 to 32psi after a day on our barrier beach. Used 10 times, max. I had same experience as many other complaints- motor mount screws quickly vibrated loose, ruining motor. Sears store and Sears Service Center would do nothjing for me- it's out of warranty. Clerk said it "looks brand new" (it does- that's how little use it had before breaking). I feel Sears should recall the product based on the design flaws reported by many, and possible fire hazard, due to internal wiring deficiencies....
