It's great to have something like this to inflate tires, balls, etc. But, as others have noted, the stem valve doesn't fit smoothly on a tire valve so it will often vibrate off when it's running. Early on it was just slightly a hassle but now it has gotten so bad I can't even get it onto the valve stem. When I called under the warranty, as directed on the website, they said I have to take it to a store which was also disappointing. While I was initially adequately happy with this item, I'm losing faith in it and Sears./Craftsman. I wouldn't recommend this based on my experience.

Also, pressure gauge doesn't seem to correspond to tire pressure.
...

CountZero says "Fastest Inflator EVER!" about Craftsman 120V Portable Inflator

I replaced my old inflator that had worked faithfully for 20 years with this bigger, faster model.

The GOOD news: This modfel is definitely faster than any other home use inflator I've ever used. I'd estimate that the time to add 5 pounds in a tire is about 30 seconds. It used to take a few minutes with my old inflator.

I read the other reviews about the chuck sticking on the valve stems, but did not have any problem attaching, locking, or removing the chuck. It was easy on and easy off. Maybe they've improved the design.

The BAD news: As mentioned in other reviews, the vibration is above average and the little suction cup feet don't do anything to help. The vibratiojn is bad enough that the tire pressure gauge is unreadable. Sure, you shouldn't rely on the built-in tire pressure gauge exclusively, but knowing whether you're somewhere near the pressure you want would be pretty convenient. As it is, you have to guess when to stop putting in air, check with your "real"...
...

My new bicycle has tires that need about 100 PSI. My old inflator could not handle the load. This was supposed to be the replacement that would do the trick. Despite the high price and the large size, I bought it because it had everything I needed. The hose is long enough. So is the power cord. The operation was surprisingly quiet. Everything about it was great, except for the most crucial thing. The hose connector did not fit over the valve! I had to force it down with all of my might and it still did not fit properly. Then I had to wrestle it off of the stem. I took it back and bought another product at another store, at half the price, smaller, easier to operate and works just fine.
...

I thought about getting the cheaper Craftsman 120 volt portable inflator, but decided to spoil myself a little. This red devil is quite fast. It filled up a dead basketball in seconds flat. The gauge is quite accurate too. I doublecheked it with a trustworthy dial auto gauge.

There is some complaints about the fill coupling (or plastic flip chuck). You really have to get it on your tire valve. Once there, just wiggle it ever so gently to make sure you got it on, then flip it lock.

Same with the disconnecting. Overfill the recommended PSI by a wee bit, and the unflip the chuck and twist it clockwise/counterclockwise gently. It will come off without a hitch. I've had experiences with 12 volt inflators before, and yes, it could have been made better with a metal coupling / chuck.....and yes, the footprint is small, but tall. So with the vibrations (despite suction cup feet....which is useless on garage concrete floors), you have to hold it stead with one hand while it is filling. The...
...

I went against all the reviews and bought one of these things. Yup, everyone was right. In less than 5 minutes I tried it out, boxed it back up, and have it ready to return. What I call the air chuck (part that clamps down on valve stem) gets stuck on the valve stem. I nearly pulled the valve stem out of my wheel to take it off. The other problem is internal. The minute you turn it off, you'll hear a hissing sound. That's the sound of the air from your tire leaking out of the pump itself. I take it either the pump doesn't have a one-way valve, or it's just defective. Don't waste your time (and gas) buying this.
...

It looks massive, sturdy, and impressive. But the coupling at the end of the hose is the cheapest plastic. After around 20 fills, the plastic gasket inside of the coupling has gotten chewed up so much that it will not longer fit onto the shrader valves. In other words--junk.

I bought this inflator for my husband for father's day. We previously had a manual inflator and let's just say, inflating a bicycle tire was so daunting that by the time he blew the tire up, he wanted nothing to do with going on a bike ride. Now, we can check our tires, blow them up and be on the road with our daughter enjoying the day in no time. So needless to say, mission complete!

I also purchased this instead of just a basic inflator because of its promise to perform highly on full size vehicle tires as well. Since my husband and I are both military, it's safe to say that we travel more than most families. Now that we have a toddler, we think about safety in ways we never really did for the two of us. To know that we can drive up the east coast without worrying about getting stranded due to a flat tire is so relieving. I can't say that we have had to use it for that purpose yet (thankfully) however, I have been so impressed by the everyday use that I have no doubt that it will be just...
...

The inflator is a good deal.If you read some of the other reviews people complain about the inflator having diffuculty attaching or unattaching from the tires....I have used a few diffrent inflators before...they are all about the same when it comes to hooking it up to the valve stem, sure a little air comes out when you remove it,they all do that. You are not going to prematurely wear out your valve stem or damage your tires unless your inflating your tires 20x a day.The tire guage works good you just have to turn it off, get a reading and add more, or let some out. Dont let negative reviews turn you away from this inflator, its a good one especially for the money.
...

I bought this based on good expereince with craftsman/sears (I'm a very loyal customer) and previous inflator I had from them that worked great, but pump simply wore out after 8 years.

However, this inflator is a very poor overall design and will damage your tires valve stems if used regularly. The pump itself is nice, although it vibrates quite a bit, but the nozzle used to clamp the valve stem is far too narrow and tight. It is very difficult to get it on adequately. It has to seat very far to allow it to depress the valvestem core which is necessary to allow inflation of your tire (if you don't know what I'm talking about its that little metal center portion of your valve you push in to let air out - it also has to be pushed in to let air IN). It requires so much effort getting the clamp seated onto the stem, that on older tires I am quite sure it will cause you to eventually damage the valve stem and leaving you with a flat. It is no easier to remove it again, really stressing...
...

The nozzle is extremely too tight on car tires. It's all I can do to push it down far enough to make contact with the tire stem's little metal thing. I feel like I'm going to break the stem on the tire. Looking inside the nozzle, there is this extra padding that if not there, seems like it would be better (my old black and decker doesn't have this and it fits fine). Considering the 5 pages of "injury risk warnings" in the manual about things flying off, wonder if they have had problems with people getting injured when the nozzle is not snug and did this on purpose. Whatever, I can't use this and will be retruning it.
...

I purchased this inflator to be able to inflate my vehicle tires without having to use a cigarette lighter for power. The power cord is over 11 feet long and the air hose is over 7 feet long so an extension cord may not be required for most applications. The universal valve adapter does stick to the valve stem however. This makes it difficult to remove and causes several psi of air to be lost during the removal process. You'll need to compensate for this during filling.

The pressure gauge fluctuates +/- 10 psi during filling so I use an independent air gauge to check my progress. Vibration during use is quite noticeable. The unit comes with four suction cups as feet but I cannot get them to stick to my garage floor no matter how clean it is. Therefore, the inflator tries to walk off the job during the filling operation. Other than that, it works well. It does inflate vehicle tires fairly quickly and it comes with an accessory kit that includes an inflation needle, valve adapters, and several...
...

My main issue with it, is it uses a "bicycle pump" type connector. After filling tire, this thing sticks to valve stem and lets out as much air as you just put in! You need to overfill a little to accomodate this "feature".
...

Purchased based off the Craftsman name. After using the first time, it would not show pressure of inflated bicyle tire after it was turned off. It would continue to release air from the inflator. The instruction manual will state that there will be a short hiss after shutting the unit off. I had no idea of the actual or approximate air pressure of the tire. I checked on a SUV tire and as soon as I connected the hose to the tire, with the unit off, it began to bleed air from the inflator. I am taking back for a refund. Very weary of getting another on exchange....

I bought my Inflator from the Brea store on Sat 22Nov08. I liked the compact size and the weight. I have 33X10.5R15 tires installed on my truck, and I did not know if this inflator would easily inflate my tires. I aired down to 20psi, and in a few minutes (3 to 4), I was at 55psi to 60psi. I was amazed on how quickly my tires grew! While the Inflator was running, it was luke warm. The length of the air hose 7ft and power cord 11ft, was very adequate. I liked the small storage compartment in the back for storing various adaptors. The only thing that I did not like was there was no saying of how many amps this Inflator was (on the Sears web site and on the box). Other than that, I would recommend the Craftsman 120V Inflator to anyone who is looking for a light to light-medium air compressor....
