Amazing!!!

This thing is incredible! I've never had the need for a chainsaw until recently. Wanted to clear some small to moderate trees on the side of my home...about 3-8" thick. It cut through them like butter. It worked well and fast without the smoke and any other annoyances of a gas saw. I will and already... read full review »

Problems with chain

I purchased the chainsaw two weeks ago. I started using it and about after 20 minutes the chain slipped off. I tried for a good hour to put in back on, but no luck. I brought up to the Sears service area and they could not fix it either. They gave me a new one no questions asked. (I am thankful that... read full review »

Excellent value

I needed a saw to clean up a lot of damage from an ice storm. It would have cost me $60 to rent a gas chain saw for a day, so it made more sense to buy an inexpensive saw. Nothing to lose. I looked at a slightly more expensive electric model on the sears site, but the reviews did not compare to the reviews for this model. I purchased it for $50 on sale. Works like a charm. Chain did slip off the wheel after an hour or so, but the operator's manual said it would due to the chain "stretching" after its initial use. I followed the simple instructions to fix the chain and it has been fine since then.... read full review »

Great little saw

I bought this saw to replace a nearly identical one I had for over ten years. I've only used this one a few times but it seems to be about the same as the other one and I was VERY pleased with that one. It was excellent for cutting up limbs and even for felling small trees up to about 6" in diameter. I used it for cleaning up downed trees during an ice storm that we had a few years ago and I worked it for days straight and it never faltered. I think that it would probably still be working if I hadn't abused it. Just remember to keep the chain sharp, tensioned, and oiled and you should get years... read full review »

Works Great

Does a great job for what I bought it for. The only shortfall is it doesn't have auto oiling. Does as good a job as my 18" gas but without the noise and smell.

Great for a different reason ...

I am a woman whose husband has multiple sclerosis. Therefore, I have had to learn to do all manner of things the average woman might not. The saw is light enough for me to weild in all directions (including above my head). So, with chair-side direction from him, the job of removing a huge, 50-year old crape myrtle that was taking down my gutters and had branched into 6 inch in diameter invidual trunks for 6 feet in each direction was actually a snap!

small jobs

When I first used the saw, it ran for about 45" before the chain jumped. Now, the tension needs to be adjusted every 15" or so, as per the manufacturer's direction. This saw is ok for small jobs, like trees, no greater than 4" thick. Oh, it'll cut through larger items but it takes a while and is very tiring. I recently had to cut through several railway ties(8" thick). Each cut took about 20"-25" plus time to stop and adjust the chain tension. The oil-feeding process required the use of my left hand to depress the oil-feed button (get an auto-feed capable version), so I couldn't use both hands... read full review »

Great Little Saw

I borrowed this saw from a neighbor to cut down a 12" Dogwood. I later used it to cut some 6-8" Elm and Maple branches. The saw worked great so I bought my own. The light weight makes it easy to work with and I don't need to store gas. The only issue is that it does tend to leak chain oil when stored. This happened with an old gas saw I had before - so not a big deal, just be sure to store it over plastic.

Neat Little Chainsaw

I knew I wanted something more than just my recip saw for trimming trees so I shopped around for chainsaws. I knew I wanted electric, and started reading reviews. This chainsaw is well rated and it is obvious why! I didn't buy it for cutting trees, but this is perfect for trimming branches. As long as you don't overdo it, and remember to oil the chain, this chainsaw should go the distance!

good chainsaw

Have only used the chainsaw for cutting up some small trees and making shorter firewood logs. For those purposes it was excellent. Buying it was easy too. I ordered it online during my lunch hour and picked it up at a local store after work. Very convenient. As soon I as took it out of the box, I added oil and went to work and everything went very smoothly. I was hesitant to buy an electric chainsaw but my gas ones have been more trouble than help so I thought I would give the electric a chance. I'm glad I did. It's perfect for small jobs around the yard. I would give it 5 stars but have not had... read full review »

Great little chain saw

I puchased this chain saw 2 weeks ago for the terrific price of $49.99. I chose this one because of the great reviews contributed here. As I was using it for the first time, I kept thinking to myself that I couldn't wait to submit my own positive review. I had many 12" rounds of Arbutus that I thought I would easily be able to split with a wedge but that wasn't very successful. Needless to say, this 14" chain saw cut through with no effort at all. I kept checking the chain to assess if any tightening was needed , but it remained tight for an hour and a half of solid cuts. Overall, I feel I have... read full review »

Great, so far

I've only had this saw for a month so I can't give a long-term review. It cut everything I needed it to, the largest was a 10-inch diameter branch. If it had an automatic chain oiler instead of a manual one, it would be perfect.

Craftsman 14 in. Electric Chain Saw
bought on sale/clearence for $47.00

Also extend warranty to 3 years from one for $7.18

Cuts wood like it was butter.

It never slows down while cutting.

I don't miss the gas and premix at all.

Built in chain oiler, it's manual, but at least it has one.

No assembly required, fully assembled in the box.

14" Giant

This little chain saw has made small work of a lot of BIG trees. My father owned one for 20(?) years and it was used quite a bit before it had to replaced - with another 14" electric! I have personally used one to cut up trees with 12" trunks. I have also used it to cut railroad ties. All without a problem. I own a gas chain saw, but if it's withing 100 feet of my house, I'm using my Craftsman Electric!!!
